It’s okay you’ll get a social media statue one day for all your enlightened commentary.

No one from DC now has the right to criticize the South for their Confederate statues.

Good point. What an embarrassment for our city. We look like a bunch of ignorant, uneducated idiots.

I'm sorry. Did Barry fight a war in defense of slavery?

No but he was a well-documented racist and misogynist.

Did he enslave anyone?

Just because the DC Council put up a Barry statue doesn't mean that these Confederate statues are any less deserving to being taken down. I'm not excited about my tax dollars being spent on a Barry statue but it's not the end of the world.

Bite your tongue. Before he was mayor, he was legitimately significant leader in the civil rights movement. Check yourself.

YAWN. And that somehow makes up for the fact that he ran the city into the ground?

He was a smooth-talking charlatan and con man. Whatever sincerity he had early in his life was traded for power, corruption, and vices. His record speaks for itself, and it was abysmal.

Not really. He was at most a minor level person.

It’s embarrassing that DC put up a statue, as PP put it, a racist and misogynist. He was also a corrupt, tax-cheating crackhead. Former what Mayot Tony Williams put it best: Barry flew the city into the side of a mountain and get a statue. Unbelievable. The rest of the country is laughing.

How predictably pathetic.

He was flawed, but he wasn't corrupt.

Racist and misogynist? He should have run for president! He would have won! If he was white and had done meth or heroine, you know an opioid. Then he would have received sympathy and rehab and lauded for his bravery.

DC's canines are hydrated and waiting!

This is truly absurd.

We are discussing getting rid of statues for historical figures Robert Lee and Columbus while at the same time erecting one for convicted, racist and corrupt politician Marion Barry?

If you think Barry was racist, you are new to this city. There were lots of white folks who loved Barry. He made them rich too.
