Give me a chance to congratulate you and your kid

DS just finished the SFQC at Fort Bragg. He completed his Masters last year, but this is his biggest accomplishment to date.

SFQC - this is fantastic! I'm sure you are amazingly proud of him.

This is OP. The other college acceptance thread went off the rails.

Perhaps we can try again with this positive one?

Congrats to all on the hard work of getting a kid through high school, and congrats to the kid on a job well done.

You might want to keep an eye out for ADHD. Executive function issues show up in that way for smart kids, with significantly better tests scores than grades.

Yes, been looking at adhd and anxiety for years. But since he is overall happy and I am guessing fairly high iq, never sought a diagnosis. I am a medical professional, and tend to avoid too much intervention. He is really a strange bird. Tj would have been perfect for his interests, but not the workload.

We’re going through this too. ADD, anxiety and perfectionism. Never more convinced that highly gifted kids need a special education than I am now. 1510 SAT (first attempt, no prep) and weighted 3.0 GPA. Wish we had known sooner. At least do CBT for anxiety and test for ADD. Mindset work if perfectionism is an issue.

And so as not to derail the thread, I’ll play. That SAT score. So happy for DC.

You might want to check to see if score meets Johns Hopkins University CTY gifted and talented program.
>540 PSAT for 9th grader, verbal or math. It's a great program, highlight of my kid's HS. Duke also has a gifted and talented program. Less familiar with Duke.

Please note that Cleveland is in Kai-a-hoe-ga county. Kai rhymes with guy. My husband from NJ has a lot of trouble with that and calls it Key-a hoe-ga.

They pronounce the major road in Cleveland heights called Monticello - with the cello pronounced like the instrument. Not like Thomas Jeffers’s home.

The local chain of coffee shops named Arabica is not Ah-RAH-bih-cah. It’s Air-a-BEE-cah

What up with Ohio schools? Is ohio well known?
