Tell that to hungry children who will get nothing this holiday, or people who can't afford health care for their chronic and serious illnesses. |

When is the last time you heard of a child dying of starvation in this country (not due to abuse)? If the liberals get their way with universal healthcare, I’m done contributing my work. Why work? I work for healthcare now, and take home nothing after payments. I don’t need the stress of working. |
My kids pay/paid for metro and earned less. I've worked and earned less. Paid for my own transportation. There are firms and companies who pay for parking in downtown DC-usually higher paid get garage space NOT rank and file. This discussion is stupid. How much other junk has been written off and paid for by me for entitlements? Yes-I regard this deduction as an entitlement. EITC really didn't do much did it? |
Did you people read this article? "Companies could still provide the parking and transit passes to employees, but they would no longer get the tax deduction. And employees who pay for their own transportation costs can still use pre-tax income." If employers set up these ira type accounts employees are still paying with pre-tax income. That is ripping off everyone else. What's next? pre-tax lunch at work? Business clothes? This is all BS... |
I hope you do quit working in healthcare. You sound like Dr. Death. |
Such a bullshit post. You take home nothing after paying healthcare? Who pays for your food, your mortgage, your electric bill, your internet? Living in poverty, even with the supports we provide, is not a pleasant lifestyle. But you're welcome to quit your job and try it. I'm sure someone else would be more than happy to take your job and life of privilege if you leave your job. |
Are you the anit-Obamacare poster? Your fulltime job seems to be posting on here. |
DP. It is possible you might be referring to me. I hate ObamaCare due to the harm it has caused many people and post here about it, but I see many posts from others complaining about their inability to afford it too. Liberals always think that there are only one or two conservatives posting here. |
Is that meant to be a dig? You’re a jerk, I’m very well educated, thank you very much. Just sick of subsidizing bloodseckers |
DP. Some of these posts just bring up the same, slightly reworded example every time. It’s not hard to recognize writing styles after awhile. But don’t worry, sounds like things will get better for you once Congress repeals the individual mandate. Hang in there. |
Are you really that stupid? Governments everywhere subsidize public transport because it reduces traffic congestion and pollution relative to having millions of extra cars on the road. Metro is expensive. It can cost 6.50 one way to go somewhere on Metro at peak time. Removing those subsidies will cause low and middle income people to use Metro a lot less and drive more. |
Do you think I’m the only person in the US weighing the cost-benefit of working vs. public assistance? I guarantee there are millions weighing this decision this year. Eh - working brings me $xxxx, but not working gets me subsidized rent, healthcare, utilities, plus no hassle of work. I know a few people who call themselves “retired” under this formula. Why work? I’m not needy, I don’t care about material stuff or things, It doesn’t scare me to go without and it’s not the worst thing in the world. I raised my kids, and the things I like are free - library, spending time with grandkids, walking. I’m in the 50+ sweet spot where health insurance costs a fortune. Once it becomes universal I’m done with working. Probably 20% of the workforce today feels the same way. More free stuff will certainly free up jobs. |
This. |
WTF? It’s only a problem if a child dies of starvation, not if they routinely go to bed hungry? And yes there are many children in the US who don’t get enough food. Or did you not hear of that girl who asked Santa for food for Christmas? It’s all over the news. You are heartless. |
