KNowing what I know about the Montgomery Village administration I'm not surprised the morale is so low.

True! Disaster!

How many of those principals have changed though since 2014? It's such a huge contributing factor that I honestly don't think the ratings mean anything in schools that have had admin turnover since the last climate survey.

These roles are revolving doors. Principals are equipped to lead. They’re just pushed up bc they are yes men & women.

No integrity

Clemente changed in 2015, but I wouldn't put much money on the morale having changed much.

Churchill and Hover having such a low scores?

I totally agree that MCPS principals are mostly just middle managers and yes men or women.

Man I hope we’re up next for a leadership change. Otherwise we’re going to lose a whole new group of good people this year, and I will be among them. The talk has started already, and it’s enough already. I’mstarting to think the county doesn’t care if you’re a high achieving wealthy W school. Just get a warm body in there and it will be fine seems to be the thinking. Parents, just curious, do you pay attention to this stuff? You really should...

But as a parent how do you initiate change? Churchill has had the same checked out Principal for years and despite her several
high profile missteps, she is still there. She is not at leader, there is no regular communications from the school, the kids never see her, the is a huge drug problem, etc. We are lucky that there are some great teachers who care about the kids, but there are also others that you wonder how the are still even teachers. If her past history of ineptness will not induce MCPS to replace her what will?

When I first heard this, I didn’t believe it. Then, I experienced it. Holy Sh*t. Run away from this school. Today there was an MCPS traffic monitor assessing student drop off. I mean really? Ironically, he parked his car without a permit in a permit parking only part of the street. There is a parking problem at the school. There is a drop off problem at the school. There is a morale problem at the school. There is blatant ignoring of special needs students being targetted at the school. She was the principal of many people who openly discuss how bad the drugs were at the school in the 80s. She doesn’t give a crap.

More like prison wardens who allow anything and the prisoner has to get the attorney for assault to be handled. It is unbelievable.

Did you ever think part of the moral problem isn't in the schools but from the outside...........yes, because of the parents....

Cabin John MS got a new Principal a couple of years ago and the change has been tremendous. I’m only sorry my older child had to go through Cabin John with the previous terrible principal. Total change in the environment - and today can see that in the morale surveys. Cabin John morale is much higher that it was a few years ago.

Totally agree with this. Parents can't figure out how she is still the principal. It's appalling that a principal can be as ineffective as her and still have their position. The reason the school scores so well in standardized testing/college admissions is all about the parents and has nothing to do with the principal and most of the teachers.

Um... you see that the 2017 ratings are also posted on this thread, right?

I think it’s interesting that in the 2017 rankings some of the highest income schools like pyle, Westland and north bethesda only have about 50% of the staff saying morale is positive. Not what i would have expected.
