That said, I truly never understood how Serena / Blake Lively became a fashion "it" girl for like a 6-8 year run. She's pretty but there's nothing about her that makes her pop. She's boring pretty, if that makes sense. No wow factor or charisma.

It will always be Blair. I love Serena too. But Blair has those defined facial features and the perfect pair of lips. She is beautiful, slender, delicate and polished. Serena is warm like sunshine, she can instantly brighten up anybody’s mood. Anybody can be with Serena but to be with Blair one must be worthy of her.

blair is beautiful. serena is more hot than beautiful. most people notice her body and height before they hone in on her face. blair has a unique beauty about her, but the fact that she's shorter and slimmer than serena is probably why serena is sometimes considered prettier. there's a huge difference between hot and beautiful. blair is hot too, just not as much as serena.

Ha! I somehow missed most of the show when I was the right age for it and have made it my laundry folding distraction lately. I keep thinking how pretty Lily is ... the main characters pretty ... but girls! There is a supporting actress that sits on the steps with them who is really striking.

No, the characters aren't based on them. Leighton Meester was born in federal prison and both of her parents were incarcerated. She grew up poor. I think her mom later sued her for some of her acting money.

I think it was a closer call 15 years ago, Leighton has definitely aged better than Blake.

I think Blair is more beautiful than Serena but that Serena had better, more interesting style on the show and was a more appealing character, at least in the first season (Blair got much more interesting as the series progressed). Blair's clothes were always impeccable but boring -- she was supposed to represent the classic UES ideal, but as a teenager. Serena was supposed to be more worldly and her fashion was more specific to her.

But I think Leighton Meister is more beautiful than Blake Lively (and also seems like a more likable person).
