Designing Women….so so funny. Im from the South though so I can see how maybe Northerns wouldn't get it.

What kind of humor could you compare it to? I've wanted to start it but wondering if the comedy is dry?

Yes. I'd say it's most similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm. Look up deadpan in Wikipedia and Arrested Development is given as an example: "Many popular American sitcoms use deadpan expressions to deliver dry humor, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, and My Name Is Earl."

The delivery is deadpan but the people are over the top. It can have a really absurdist feel. I wanted to say this because often people think deadpan comedy is just people in normal situations saying cutting things to each other (dull).

+1 I still watch it and laugh even though I've seen all the episodes a million times.

Mary Tyler Moore - the scenes in the newsroom with Ted Knight were always priceless.

Trump presidency - it may be the best comedy of all time.

I'd say Archer fits this list.
