What kind of humor could you compare it to? I've wanted to start it but wondering if the comedy is dry? |
| It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia |
I like this list. Pp we could be friends. But I clicked on the thread to say South Park. Surprised not to see it here. Also, thrilled to be reminded of get smart. |
| Golden Girls is the best written comedy in my opinion. Talk about ahead of their time. All in the family and Mamas Family are my 2nd and 3rd choices. Everyone Loves Raymond and King of Queens are my distant 4th and 5th. |
|
Golden Girls
Roseanne Cheers I've rewatched them all within the past couple years. Can't wait for the Roseanne reboot. More recent: Louie Broad City One Mississippi |
| Either Friends or How I Met Your Mother |
Yes. I'd say it's most similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm. Look up deadpan in Wikipedia and Arrested Development is given as an example: "Many popular American sitcoms use deadpan expressions to deliver dry humor, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, and My Name Is Earl." |
|
Another vote for Seinfeld.
I also like Cheers, Friends, and many others listed (shout out to the Monty Python poster!) |
|
Sports Night. It's Aaron Sorkin's version of West Wing set in at cable news show. Only two seasons sadly.
|
Loved it! |
+1. How is this even a question? AD is so obviously the best. |
|
My list in order of preference:
Arrested Development. It's quirky & deadpan. And genius. Curb Your Enthusiasm The Office Seinfeld I also like Mary Tyler Moore and I Love Lucy but they're very different from the above. |
| PP again. When I say Arrested Development I am referring to the original 3 seasons, not the remake that was Season 4. |
