Except his second term wou end 1/20/2025. And can't get re-elected with a 30% favorability rating. Or if he is not able to pass legislation. Typical Trumpkin idiot.

It will all happen very quickly.

I'm as level headed and intelligent as people come and don't go for conspiracy theories but there's a niggling thought in the back of my mind that the powers that be, both Democrats and Republicans, will quietly collude and decide he's a danger to the country and justify it on grounds that he's suffering from early onset of dementia and decide the best solution is to have a sudden natural death and make it happen.

A sudden, dramatic death would fit his MO. Imagine the headlines! Ratings will be sky high!

I don't think anyone will kill him though. And even though he's not super healthy I think it's unlikely he'll die.

I'm sticking with his resignation next spring. After the holidays are over and investigations have come to a head.

I think he will stay out his term. It will take that many years for his base to grow tired of him and his empty promises.

The bright side is that this will give Democrats time to establish credible candidates that can reach across the aisle - because right now, the good ones are not widely known, and the old guard is divisive.

Actually, I *hope* they will have enough time! Honestly it doesn't look good...

We don't believe his promises are empty. We see very clearly what's going on. I am 55 and had saw what happened to Bush when liberals were convinced he stole the election. They are sore losers and this is one big temper tantrum by media. You can see it in the broadcasts election night. In addition, there has been some real serious corruption by democrats and some republicans over the past 8 years, and they really expected Hillary to win. Now that she hasn't, they are in complete panic mode, and you are seeing the results of that. Groups like Judicial Watch are leaving no stone unturned and now have the support they need to uncover what's really been going on.

In addition, you have the latest reports by Harvard/MIT finding Breitbart News is NOT Alt-Right:

“One thing that came out very clearly from our study is that Breitbart is not talking about these issues in the same way you would find on the extreme right,’’ he said. ‘‘They don’t use the same language you find on sites like VDARE and The Daily Stormer’’ — two sites connected to the white-nationalist alt-right movement. He paused for a moment, then added: ‘‘Breitbart is not the alt-right.’’ (emphasis added)

AND that Breitbart has a record of promoting women and minorities (NYT Magazine):

“[…] Alex has a pretty good record of promoting women and minorities, at least by the industry’s abysmal standards — including the lead defense correspondent, the national security editor, and the copy chief, all of whom are women of color,” Wil S. Hylton writes in the near-nine thousand word expose published Wednesday.

“In fact, the masthead is more varied and international than most of the news organizations where I’ve worked,” notes Hylton, whose byline has appeared in GQ, Esquire, and Harper’s dating back to 2003.

Slowly but surely, the truth is emerging. Shine a light and the roaches scatter.

Thanks for the laugh!

Thanks for clearing that up about Breitbart, PP. I have been thinking they were totally alt-right this whole time.

I don't see a credible candidate from the political class to challenge him in 2020. It will have to come from the outside, people like Mark Zuckerburg. Depending on his health, Trump could be serving two terms.

He really has no choice. Democrats will impeach him if they win in the midterms. Mueller is building the mother of all cases against him. The GOP is tired of running interference for him. Even his own staff doesn't like him.

I think they are going to negotiate a way for him to resign and then having someone at the White House fire Mueller and ending the investigation as an incentive. As foolish as he is, he has to realize by now Mueller is going to destroy his entire family by getting everyone to snitch on each other. Pretty much the one thing Trump seems to care about, other than himself, are his kids (some of them). I think he will resign to protect them from Mueller.

The only kid he cares about is Ivanka and I bet she's going to come out of this ok.

I wish I felt confident, or even hopeful, he was going to resign. We are living in a dystopian fantasy right now.

"Optimistic" is the word you're looking for, not "nice"

All that matters is whether Republicans and Independents feel that Trump is the better choice compared to the Democrat who is nominated. Republicans will in overwhelming numbers support Trump even if he is not their first choice. Democrats will support their nominee. Independents will be decisive as in prior elections.

Also, with the divisions in the Democratic party, unless there is good turnout, the nominee will be doomed. I can't see any of the names that have been bandied around for Democrats having the sort of appeal that Obama had. What has killed Democrats in past elections is turnout - especially among the under 30 demographic.

I pick October 12, 2017, what do I win if I'm right?

If Trump resigns, does Mueller's investigation end? Many of these posts seem to make that assumption, but why would it? Especially if he is uncovering financial crimes that predate his campaign?

No. And here is the issue with why trump can't resign - he would have no leverage to cut a deal if he resigns. He will be prosecuted and go to jail unless Pence pardons him. However, Pence is likely complicit in all this so it might be Ryan he has to make the deal with. And this isn't pardoning something relatively small like Watergate - this is pardoning a president of treason if the Russian allegations prove to be true.

Are you Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal?

I cannot believe she wrote this.

“I hope Trump is assassinated!” Yep. She did.

What if Mueller, Rs &Ds leadership make a quiet deal? You know, to save our country and our standing in the world?

Not worried about Trump supporters, they are fewer than they make out to be.

She is a STATE senator from Missouri and she will have to resign because of it. She was wrong - dead wrong - and that is a horrible thing to write. She should resign.

However, as a Democrat and patriot - I don't want the Orange Tub O Lard to die! I want his impeached and disgraced.
