Why isn't St. Mary's College of Maryland a hot college?

The area is gorgeous. The campus is not. We just drove through it with two teens, and they couldn't believe parking lots weren't paved. Some weird stone job with rubber matting underneath.

If your kids eliminated a school simply because the parking lots weren't paved to their satisfaction, it's clear they have very shallow priorities.

Uh, the parking lots are pervious/porous. You know, to help out the environment and keep pollution out of the river that is right there on campus. Obviously St. Mary's cares more about the environment than they do about impressing your teens.

Hilarious. Such lofty minded teens to be staring at and contemplating the ground in that way.

I think a lot of people think it's a Catholic school when it's not. Even an alum I know who went there thought it was Catholic. It's named after the city and the city was named after St. Mary but the school is not a Catholic school.
