Asking for help at a grocery store is now harassing employees? Crazy! |
|
OP. I am not so sure why you were so quick to complain.
I believe you said this was your local store. Had you encountered this woman before? If so what was that like? You never know how a person's day is going. Maybe she is a rude person or maybe she was having an off moment. Wouldn't you hate to be judges on one bad moment. Unless she did something egregious I would have waited to see if there was a pattern. |

You should be more careful about posting stuff on line about a worker or business. People get mad and get even. Anyone can be found on the internet.
You shouldn't use the internet to bully people, they can and do bully back. |
That goes for Yelp too. People can and will hunt you down. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. |

When I've had customer service issues at places like that, I've found that talking to the manager calmly is a good way to resolve it.
I always keep in mind that my comments could be the reason someone loses their job today. Do I really want to be responsible for that because I'm pissed that they didn't interact with me in a pleasant manner? No, I don't. So I save my complaints for the egregious situations, and I always couch it by saying, "I'm sure this person is having a bad day or maybe needs some additional training." |
THIS!!!!! |

I think that she was probably covering her own section, saw the person responsible for Op's section close by and the annoyance in her voice was directed at her coworker (for leaving her section uncovered) and not at Op. Her tone prompted the coworker to scurry over and offer to assist Op.
|
| FWIW, I worked in the deli at a grocery store and I used to really dislike it when customers would ask me to assist them in the bakery because I had never been trained to handle the bakery items and I didn't really know what I was doing over there. I remember being irritated at the bakery staff member for not being over there working their counter. Hopefully my irritation at my coworker didn't show to the customer.... |
Did you miss the part where I said I didn't remember it happening before? There were three or four guys behind the meat counter - I got the ONE guy who doesn't know how to convert. Is it really so wrong I don't remember him? |
It would have been nicer for you to have been helpful to him when you saw that he was making an error (Actually I only want a third of a pound. Thanks!). |
Yeah and it's pathetic. What happened to freedom of speech????? Just because you don't agree with what someone says, they should be bullied for it. |
People who complain on the internet or post negative reviews on Yelp to be vindictive or passive aggressive should accept the blow back. I don't want to make enemies on the internet so I only post positive reviews or nothing at all. |
| That should say shouldn't above |
If only the positive, glowing reviews were posted, people would stop reading Yelp. Just think how boring it would be if every business received only praise because people were to afraid to post honest criticism. Also, what bugs one customer (noisy atmosphere) might appeal to another customer (noisy atmosphere = kid friendly!). |

I mystery shop so I take a shitload of bad customer service with a smile and write my report.
However, when it isn't a shop, I happily will both complain and give positive feedback. Personally, I can tell the difference in stores that get mystery shopped and those that aren't. |
