| This isn't about FFX, so let's not derail. This is about a privileged area with drug (just like they have in FFX and PW and Bethesda, etc) and the parents who refuse to believe it could be an issue and the parents who say it's as big as Portland. Somewhere in the middle lies the truth, but the scarier parents are the ones who keep going back to "prove" there is no problem. |
+1 It's appalling to me that parents are trying to argue that it's not a problem because they don't have whatever specific data they think they need for it to officially be classified as a "problem". IMO, if the police department and school principals think it is a big problem then it IS a big problem. They should be the ones to know. They certainly don't have any incentive to over-emphasize a drug problem in the schools. Certainly, addressing it holistically through treatment, stress reduction, etc. is important but if sending in the dogs to find it in the school helps deter kids from bringing it on campus or helps find kids who are using and need help, then that's a valuable piece of the process. |
What is the AEM thread? Is it on dcum? What does AEM stand for? |

Those parents are so impressed with their perceived intelligence. They want all of us be in awe of their ability analyze data, and get their take on policy.
I'm not impressed. |
Arlington Education Matters is a FB page. Over 1,000 members including SB members, teachers, and lots of parents. Beware, it's run by a North Arlington parent(s) who have their own political agenda and have been known to tamp down conversation if it isn't in line with their political agenda. |
Arlington education matters Facebook page. |
I think someone tried to call out NVD for her bad behavior and they shut that shit right down. They let Lander get skewered. So, you can see where the allegiances are. |
They sound smarter than you, anyway. |
Yes. APS is known for hiding anything that makes them look bad. The fact they finally had to go public with this certainly means it's big. Though somebody clearly hasn't given the WMS principal the memo. She obviously wants to hang onto her job---so deny, deny, deny. |
There were plenty of caps-heavy posts in favor of Lander. And it's not "skewering" someone to call attention to a candidate's beliefs and behavior (I did think pointing out that he had a donation from a strip club crossed a line, but the rest of it? You speak it, you own it.) |
| I will say something for AEM: At least those people put their names behind what they say rather than us cowards in the DCUM ghetto. |
Doubtful. The principal was retired and had to come in after the principal was fired suddenly in February for reasons that were never made public. She was always intended to be a temporary appointment and there's a search on to hire a permanent replacement. She knows this. She's not gunning to keep the job at all. |
I do both. However, I will only call you a bitch here. |
I'm on both too - and have been called a bitch there - must have been you
But seriously, most of the people on AEM seem to have an agenda on this topic that shifts almost all responsibility to APS while at the same time not wanting APS to enforce the law. Let's just change what those letters stand for - Arlington Public Social workers. |
You speak it, you own it? Well, then why was the video of NVD's outburst removed? |
