How do you know since you don't use Roundup?

This is really not true for Roundup and most herbicides in common use. you should really consider what the scientific studies show on this and other issues. Don't settle for "Mother Earth News" which is full of alternative facts.

FFS, I feel like I'm talking to climate change deniers. How about Nature, a scientifically peer reviewed journal?

I have never used Roundup, but I have seen and heard from others who have, and seen the effect it had on the caterpillars. Why would it be surprising that eating a herbicide doesn't do you good?

In addition, there is a strong correlation between the diminishing bee population and "weed killers". Companies such as Mosquito Squad are under no obligation to tell you the truth (ethically, they should - but it usually does not happen).

Look around. One sees far fewer chemical trucks than in the past, for good reason. People need to educate themselves, especially in a geographic area that is supposed to be "educated".

WTF does Round Up! have to do with mosquitos?

How does one use an HERBICIDE kill INSECTS, Doctor?

For someone who probably considers themselves "educated", as you like to point out, you can't even process that NO ONE uses Round Up! to control mosquitos.

But you're a great example of the type of soft minded urban nitwit who knows knowing, yet insists they know everything, and assumes everyone else who disagrees is a planet-killing buffoon. Folks like you are why folks like me just CANNOT support the environmental movement, despite likely agreeing on many, many things.

Ah, so you are OK with destroying the planet because some people get their science wrong? This poster doesn't represent "the environmental movement." He represents himself. Did you notice all the other posters who got their facts straight and gave really good reasons why spraying is bad?

Oh, STFU and get over yourself. I'll put my carbon footprint against yours or anyone else's here any day of the week.... my point, since you missed it, is that when people who boast about "having science on their side" GET THE SCIENCE WRONG, it makes everyone on that side of the argument look like a fool. As the poster just did, babbling about how dangerous Round Up is for the planet and how you should never use it for killing mosquitoes.

When you get such basic elemental things like that wrong, and THEN dig your heels in and stand by it, and THEN finally say"well he got the science wrong but it's still true".... it makes it hard to take anything else you say seriously.

My advice? Proofread this reply and find a misspelled word or punctuation error, and use that to discredit and refute me.

FFS, what does roundup have to do with mosquito squad?

We don't spray anything, We sit on our porch every day and enjoy the nice weather, and if a mosquito bites one of us, we smack it and go on with our day. None of us have died yet.

I was responding to the PPs who 1) claim they have scores of bees and butterflies who aren't harmed by the spraying of insecticide and 2) responded to reports of harm from spraying Roundup by saying that Roundup and other herbicides have nothing to do with insects. I am providing evidence that yes, herbicides do affect insects, and particularly, the beneficial insects. Herbivores who ingest herbicides (ie, caterpillars) are killed by Roundup.

But to make clear, we all do realize that Mosquito Squad and their ilk do not spray Roundup to kill mosquitos. They spray pyrethrins, which are much worse.
