Same principle. Or are you really that dense? |
+1 Thank you for having a brain. |
How did you get the bees and butterflies to read the memo to not feed on your sprayed yard? I am impressed! |
+1 It all affects human beings, ultimately. |
Omigod. Please don't give a bad name to people who care about the environment and also are capable of rational analysis. There is no "principle" by which you can use information about one substance to draw conclusions about the effects of an entirely different substance. |
Not this poster, but spraying for "mosquitos" kills indiscriminately--the good insects and the pests--just like round up does--weeds and plants. So there is some logic to this. Bees already have it hard enough and our food supply depends on them. |
They do feed in my yard! How did you get them to read the memo to die somewhere else, because they are not dying in my yard? |
OP, I live on a small lot in AU Park. My neighbors don't spray but we do (Mosquito Squad). It makes a huge difference. We can actually sit outside without being bothered by mosquitoes at all. Relax and just spray, you'll be glad you did. |
Then you're killing them. |
OP, when I sit outside I have a huge fan that I turn on. It cools me off and literally blows the mosquitoes away. You may have more than we do but the fan helps.
(And I am not a random crazy person--I got the fan idea from somewhere reputable...I just can't remember. Maybe the Times?) |
It's horrendous. Put DEET on you!
|
It's not great. Lots of beneficial insects fall prey to those poisons. Just empty standing water, for goodness sake. And wear bug spray. Also, you know that mosquitoes cross yard boundaries, right? Just b/c you spray doesn't mean you won't have mosquitoes. These services have to be the biggest waste of money. |
I also second the fan recommendation. We have very few issues with our ceiling fan on the porch or, on the deck, we bring out our oscillating fan. |
We've tried fans and they didn't make a difference. ? I suspect that we will not spray again this year- we don't have a big bee population, but it just seems like a bad idea and I'm worried about my kids health as well. |
