Petraeus has to get permission from his parole officer to take the job as well as permission to move to DC. The only way around this is for Trump to pardon him. That is not going to happen, but it would be hillarious.
At least Trump's presidency offers many opportunities for comedy, as opposed to say, a Cruz presidency, which would be scary and not fun at all.

Even if Trump pardons him, how the hell will he get a security clearance unless Trump staffs that process with his goons so it's no longer independent? The security clearance process absolutely can consider even a crime for which he later receives a pardon.
