I just returned to the DC area after a few years' absence. My job took me to other states and abroad. Missed DC very much the whole time.
Not everyone feels this way: understood. What I love about the DC area is its beauty, energy, and the people it attracts. |
I never say this outloud bc it sounds so pretentious and a little crazy, but my vacation to south africa affected me so deeply. The days I spent on safari is where I go now in my head to calm myself. Watching elephants helped me decide to have kids. The best vacation of my life. |
| Turkey and Greece. The Aegean Coast. Heaven. |
I was going to say the Cotswolds. I am pretty sure if we have past lives, mine was there. We were there in September and I woke up early to take photos. The air was scented with roses and lavender and the thick fog gave made it feel like another world. I felt very at home and did not want to leave. I could also very easily live in Bath. I want to explore all of the U.K. Our next trip will be to the Lake District up north. |
| I would love to see more of Australia and the Maine coast. I'm Irish, so anywhere on the Wild Atlantic Way is also a big draw.irish |

| Crete. Stunning beaches, lovely people, delectable food and so much history. |
This gave me chills. This is how I feel about Portugal. Hard to explain. Something keeps drawing me there and as odd as this may sound, I like myself better there. I'm a better version of myself. |

People aren't answering you properly. You're asking about soul penetration. Not whether someone had a bloody nice time. |
Completely agree. and cannot believe the tone deaf responses here. But ok. This is where we are. |
| I mean if you travelled there to do volunteer work and to help people and that what brought you to these places. But if your just a group of posh wankers waxing on--useless post. |

Love it--we were there for our honeymoon. Had a wonderful time despite a lot of instability in that area of MX when we were there. My spouse is actually from East Africa, but I didn't have the same reactions as other posters did when I visited spouse's family in one of the major cities there. Didn't romanticize it, but also didn't find it awful. However, spouse's family is mostly middle class, and we really didn't see abject poverty when we were there. |
| Maine. The pink granite, the pines, the ocean, blueberries, streams, lakes, hiking trails, not to mention, LOBSTAH! |
