Nice, this really deserves its own thread!! |

Central America is a violent hellhole.
But, sure, let's make fun of terrorized kids whose dream is to be able to skateboard without serious fear of getting shot or kidnapped or any number of other horrible things. |
I know, right? I feel like it's the moral responsibility of journalists to cover this stuff. Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, and all that. |
But this is part and parcel of the modern conservative mindset - they shouldn't even have to think about all those icky problems facing migrants, African-Americans, the poor, underinsured, disabled vets, and refugees from a Middle East debacle we created. That's why they get pissed off about Black Lives Matter and just want "those people to shut up." Being wealthy and conservative means never having to have those problems on your doorstep or interacting with those people. It's a truly f#cked up mindset. That's why they blather on about "libtard guilt," SWJs, etc etc etc - they can't handle even thinking about all the f#cked up realities that face those less fortunate than themselves. And hence why they call NPR covering stories that pop their bubble of the ideal America as "leftist" and "liberal." It's a total inability to want to even hear about people leading different lives and facing real struggles (no, your company's taxes and regulatory compliance are not a real "struggle"....) |

Okay - I just looked up Rachel Martin and I am shocked she is a white woman from Idaho. I thought she was African American from an east coast city because of all the stories she puts on the Sunday morning show dealing with minorities and inner cities.
Anyhow, her background is not what I expected. But she is still completely and totally liberal and biased in her coverage . |

I was curious about this federal money. I pulled up a GAO study on what NPR got. Money for high definition radio research. Money for cultural and musical programming. Money for programming for the deaf and blind. I think there was a small grant for the election and the 2008 economic crisis.

I listen to NPR a lot. Every day during my commute to and from work, sometimes while I'm working, and on the weekends while I'm cleaning house. I think NPR has a clearly liberal slant and I'm pretty socially liberal. But they definitely push pro-illegal immigration stories and other various lefty social issue human interest stories. This includes during their news programming like Morning Edition. Many of their correspondents are clearly anti-Trump. |
Apparently all those folks in states like NC that are actively working to regulate bathroom use didn't get the memo. I'd advise you not to listen to NPR if it bothers you so much. |
Big deal. 68 percent of the country is anti-Trump. He's making a mockery of the presidency. |
| I emailed them using the link ombudsman link on previous page. Maybe nobody ever bothers to waste their time bringing this issue to their attention. |
12:00 here. Exactly--thank you. |
like I said, thinking humans beings are anti-trump |
So you still aren't a fan of hers but now that you know she's white and from Idaho you don't outright despise her anymore.
|
Have you considered that maybe you are very far to the right. I mean objectively speaking, if a news source is simply reporting what Trump said, then it is what it is. You cannot defend overt racism, sexism and stupidity. |

Re: the constant LGBTQ stories on NPR...I totally agree with the PP who says that most people are not that interested in these issues.
Or as Ann Coulter said - She doesn't hate gay people but she is beyond tired of the whole gay marriage issue and would happily never hear about it again. Let's MOVE ON. Gays make up less than 4% of the population and transgender people probably less than point 4% of the population and yet they seem to dominate the news coverage these days. (Social issues news stories) NPR's agenda is clearly - let's push this agenda (gay marriage is wonderful; choosing to "be" the opposite sex is a totally normal choice) until the cows come home (or Christians surrender, whichever comes first.) If you are old fashioned and have old fashioned morals and values, NPR is not interested in doing a story about you (except to use you to make a point about how wrong and backwards you are etc.) |
