When Henry and Karen go into the nightclub in "Goodfellas." I mean, the whole film is genius - I've watched it two dozen times easily and still see something new every time I see it. And young Ray Liotta - yowza!

I love that movie! Jennifer Westfeldt is under appreciated.

Agreed.....and this movie made about 7 million, not bad for an independent movie.

I don't really think the quality of movies has declined -- there were some clunkers then and there are some great movies now. But I'm wondering -- did we watch with more intensity when we actually had to go to movie theaters and our attention spans were greater?

Movies were better written and more original in the 80's than most of the garbage that is coming out now a days.

This is some not true. That is nostalgia talking win and simple, with a little bit of revisionist history thrown in. Psychology studies have shown that what we see when we are young imprints more. That's all.

+1

Yep, there was plenty of crap back then, too.

Playing catch at the end of "Field of Dreams." Gets me every single time.

Tombstone (just about every scene with Val Kilmer, but if we're hand-picking...)... with Kilmer and younger, fat Billy Bob Thornton. "Johnny, I apologize, I forgot you were there. You may go now."

The scene in Honeymoon in Vegas where Nic Cage is getting all bent out of shape when Sara J Parker is packing to go with James Caan. Cage is at his absolute kinetic best, storming around the room and he says "... and he will TIE YOU UP AND HE WILL DRUG YOU!" it's so funny.

That scene kills me

I can't count the number of times I've watched this scene. Always with tears and aches in my side from laughter. Probably my favorite Coen brothers film, though O Brother Where Art Thou comes close.

I saw "O Bro" six times in the theater, with different friends (hey, I was in college and there was a discount theater near campus). I love every scene in that movie!
