Your snowflake doesn't need a snack.

I had lunch in HS at 10:37 (I blame this, to this day, as the reason I eat lunch really early) and got out of school around 2:30 with no snack. I lived. So can Snowflake.

Huh. I was in school in the 70s and 80s and we had morning recess AND a snack. And milk, too, in elementary school.

The OP can't possibly have school aged children. Her post is so out of line. Any mom with school aged kids knows how important a snack is for kids. We are living in the 21st century now, not back in the 1970's. There is nothing wrong with a kid bringing and eating a snack in school. I am sure that teachers have recognized that the kids with low blood sugar can't focus and feel sick. Why wouldn't you want the best for your children? OP, you are a loon.

You are wrong. My snowflake needs to eat some protein every 4 hours or he needs to eat some serious meds to deal with the migraines. Since lunch is at 1:30 this year, he has a snack at about 11:30.

+ 1

I'm a migraine sufferer, and so is my kid.

I dont know about you guys, but as an adult I like to have a small snack about every 2 hours. I never eat big meals but i like to eat frequently. I notice I just feel better eating less food more often rather than more food less often.

My 1st and 4th graders are both given an opportunity for a snack during school hours. Lunch is early.

I'm on "TEAM SNACK" and I'm getting T shirts printed up! Seriously, I'm with Larla's mom on this one - it's best to feed the kids if it's not disruptive. (I'm in my 40s and have trouble going 4 hours without eating, so I imagine it's worse for an 8 year old.)

Wow OP, you may want to take a class on nutrition (and learn empathy).

Is it typical of American schools to feed children at odd times or not to feed them a healthy afternoon snack? Perhaps that is why obesity is such an issue.

Wow. Migraines in a child? How awful.

Where is the opinion that snacks are good every few hours when someone posts about kids having snacks on playdates or at the park? All of a sudden then it's unnecessary.

Anyway.. I tend to agree that with an early lunch a snack would be great. Do they not have recess in the afternoon, could they have a snack then?

Let's start a gofundme for a hands across America style event to raise awareness.

Your post is equally as dramatic as Larla's mom's. Who cares this much to write a rebuttal to snack mom?

Last year KG DD had lunch at 11am and got home around 4. No snack.

I think the school may have a no snack policy. 12pm lunch this year and again no snack.

This is likely a school policy and not up to the teacher to change.
