Wow. Y'all really will say anything to avoid the main policy issue.

They should just have abortions. No use spending the money.

The question isn't what you think other people should do. It's whether you think families or the govt should decide, and whether families or the govt pays.

Families to pay?
Every special needs child does not get to be born to a family with boatloads of money

OK. So $10 million per child, and for example in Brazil we know they have thousands of microcephaly Zika cases. So that would mean increasing the Medicaid budget by $20 billion, give or take? Raise taxes, I guess.

Instead of raising taxes to cover medical costs, I'd rather pay for an informational campaign discouraging travel to countries with Zika. If you're three months pregnant, cancel your trip to Rio and tell you cousin you're very sorry but you won't be attending her wedding in Puerto Rico. There are ways to avoid this.

We can also test and quarantine people the way we do for TB. I'm all for that. If you're dumb enough to go to Rio pregnant, sorry. You have to have a blood test upon return.

But we ARE NOT doing that. Refugees with active TB have been found in almost every state. Do you really think Zika will be screened for?

Are you in favor of a ban travel for those countries affected by Zika? How about from Florida?

You do realize many people can have TB and its not just refugees.

That is true. I've heard of teachers in New York City who have been tested for TB exposure.

They caught it magically?

I worked in a school with a huge ESOL population. We were often warned about being checked out for specific diseases.

Same with boys, since is sexually transmitted. If my Zike free 30 yr old DD marries a man who got bit by a Zika mosquito when he was 10, are her future children at risk? Do people need to test for HIV and Zika now before agreeing to procreate?

Stress much?

I think you develop antibodies to it. But it runs its course like any other virus, I believe.

Government pays for abortion.
You chose not to abort, raise the kid on your own dime.
Done.

Most special needs and disabilities are not present on ultrasound scans.

Currently the federal government does not give any money towards abortion procedures. Any money that goes to Planned Parenthood can not be used for abortion procedures. Republicans argue that any money that goes to Planned Parenthood means more resource they can put towards abortion and want to remove all funding for Planned Parenthood. The government will never pay for abortions. It will never happen.

Six pages and no discussion about how Congress went on a two-month vacation without passing a bill to fund Zika research and prevention?

There is a Zika test, though. CDC will mandate that all pregnant women in affected areas receive it.

Given local transmission of Zika in the continental US has now been found, what is the Republican plan to pay for these severely brain damaged children after banning abortion? Pence's law in Indiana forbids abortion on grounds of prenatal testing that reveals disability. I would love to hear what his solution is to this incoming public health crisis. Spreading like wildfire in Puerto Rico, now in Florida and soon Texas.

No worries. Hillary will take care of everything.
