I consider a plan to vote for Trump a major character flaw, especially after sampling the circus that is the GOP convention.

But we don't know each other (I hope) so it's safe to say anonymously. Likewise, you can give your reasons without much impact. So why not share your reasons? Yes, they'll be picked apart but what's the point of saying you'll vote for Trump if not to say why?

Is it me or are liberals on here coming off like bullies? Funny you don't hear much of this kind of talk from Republicans. Could it be that the Republican voters accept that people have different points of view? Seriously pp, you are the one with the "character flaw" - your flaw as that you have a superiority complex.
I cannot imagine what it feels like to believe that people who don't vote for who I vote for have flawed characters.

In a strange way, they're like evangelicals who think people who don't believe the way they do are going to hell. The same type of superiority complex.

Liberal here. Evangelicals at their best have some very good qualities. I'm confused? Are you trying to bash evangelicals at the same time as liberals? Wow, you are a clever troll!

LOL this is awesome. Especially since they need the evangelicals to win. LOL

Saying that someone who votes for Trump has a major character flaw explains why people don't want to admit it. It's such a harsh judgment against them on a personal level.

Get over it! It's the internet! On DCUM, you don't even have a screen name to defend, so why do you care if an anonymous internet poster says something nasty? If anything, this is the place to prove Trump supporters aren't the thin-skinned stupid racists they are supposed to be, and there is no bad consequence to you if you fail to make your point.

I'm friends with some liberals and I don't dare discuss politics with them. They're like Jezebel in human form.

I'm a moderate with family members who are Republican. They're sad right now, but still fine people.

I'm a liberal. I have some annoying liberal friends like that and plenty of nice ones, too. It's really a personality thing more than anything else. I don't care if you're generally a Republican. I can respect that. But anyone voting for Trump -- I acknowledge that you are a human and not "evil", but no, I don't think you're reasonable.

One poster has given her reason for voting for Trump: WaPo's coverage this week. Why don't others give their reasons for voting for Trump? DCUM doesn't even have screennames -- this is totally totally anonymous. The safest place anywhere to give reasons.

Maybe you'll convince some of us undecideds.

oh, please. Trump is not like any other politiician in US history. I don't consider being a Republican a character flaw; in fact, I am married to a Republican who is voting Libertarian. But Trump is a dangerous charlatan of the first order.

PP here. Hahaha I cannot disagree with you about Trump being like no other - I am not a fan personally. But I have voted for unpopular candidates for less than obvious reasons and don't feel I should have to justify this - I am simply extending the same courtesy. Obviously he has a lot of supporters. Some of them will have to fess up if he wins this thing. This is definitely the weirdest - and worst - election year in my lifetime.

I posted this on another thread. It fits here too.

1. I have no doubt - no doubt - that he will surround himself with people who are expert in the field in which he hires them. He knows that he is an outsider and needs to seek help from those who understand government and how it works. Now, that doesn’t mean that he won’t shake things up a bit... because I believe he will.

2. He will shake things up. No more “business as usual.” I sincerely hope that he will make it easier to get rid of deadwood in the government as he has promised to for the VA.

3. He will put a halt to the acceptance of illegal immigration. Will more illegals cross our borders? Probably. But, they will not be welcomed with open arms as they are now. (and don’t give me the.... “Obama has deported more than any other” crap. Because, despite the numbers he has deported, he has basically laid out the welcome mat to many)

4. He knows how to create jobs. He knows the things that are tying the hands of businesses when it comes to hiring. He knows the red-tape that prevents business from growing.

5. He will treat those who protect our country - the police officers, the military, and others - with respect.

6. He won’t apologize for the fact that we are proud Americans with a strong military and freedoms that others only dream about.

I could go on, but these are just some of the top concerns on my list.
And, for each one of these, I can say that I am convinced Hillary would do quite the opposite. (except maybe #5 - she seems to respect the police and military, but panders so much it is hard to know how she really feels about these groups)

I'm not voting for Hillary. Ever, ever, ever, ever.

I don't want to vote for Trump.

I hate the idea of not voting, or just showing up at the polls on election day and voting for every other race on the ballot, except presidential.

I have to admit, the more I hear about Trump, the more I think he wouldn't be so bad. I think the way the media (led by the Washington Post, especially this week) is actively trying to take him down is horrible. That actually makes me sympathetic to him.

I'm not sure I would ever admit it either, and especially not tell my kids lest they blab to someone inadvertently.

But if election day were tomorrow, I think I'd vote for Trump too.

You really should be disenfranchised. You sound too stupid to vote.

The Washington Post is articulating all of the disqualifiers for Donald Trump -- what sane person reads these things and concludes they're going to vote for him to spite the journalists?

No self-respecting progresssive would vote for Trump over Hillary. Only racist, America-hating fucktards are going to vote for Trump.

Keep at it, liberals. Keep spewing all of this anger and hatred while accusing the republicans of being mean & bad and wanting to take away people's rights. Keep proving who you really are. This is good. Get it all out. And love all the name calling too, verrrryyyyy classy!

You confuse me with someone who's not angry. I'm not angry. I just want to see you disenfranchised and I want the government to take away your gun. I will express that calmly and rationally. You don't deserve these rights. That is all.

Uh, I'm not the person you puked out your previous response to, I'm a different poster. So, Donald Trump is the dictator, right? But you, a Hillary Clinton voter, want to take away a person's rights because they are "stupid" and don't deserve them? You don't sound at all calm or rational and you sound EXTREMELY angry.

Not the OP but fairly common in DC. I am friends with many from all walks if life, mostly liberal. Conversations here often start with impassioned generalization and the blanket expectation of agreement. I'm too old to argue and its not a litmus test for me in friendships. I do listen, but I only share my views and speak frankly with my husband. It just feels sort of pointless if you trend towards conservative in DC. You get painted with one tedious and extreme paint brush. I'd like to hear more about OPs thinking though. I haven't made up my mind.

Nobody said you have to argue. Just that you should t feel ashamed. To me that means you lack true commitment to a particular candidate.

Uh, I dont feel commited. But I do lean conservative..though I love my liberal friends they think that means a lot of very hateful things and that gets tiring - I automatically avoid politics except with my husband. It may be perception, but it seems like if you are liberal and friends disagree with your views you are still viewed a a bighearted good person, but that isn't retired for conservatives.

I'm not that PP. But all these charges of angry! have a fascinating gendered and racist undertone. The women are hysterical! The blacks are enraged! When Trump's mad, it's good righteous leadership! When liberals are, it's this crazy thing. It's the ultimate tone-policing. We give you plenty of facts and all you say is: but why are you so ANGRY?!??
