Mellow Mushroom has started construction..not changing their mind. I have heard that 5 Guys maybe out too though!

I heard Mellow started and stopped. I hope you are right. I was looking forward to it.

I have always thought that Dawson's is a mistake. They took so long to get that store in there, and it was so important to them not to have a big chain and make sure it had a liquor license--at least to see been and wine, I mean. Why? Can you imagine how much better a Trader Joe's--especially one that could sell beer and wine--would do in that spot? You can barely part at the one down at Federal Plaza, and it's always really busy. . . sigh. . . it would bring a lot of people to that area. I do wish they would find the right combination. If that's possible.

Park on the E. Jefferson side of Federal Plaza and go through the building.

Part of the problem is MoCo only allows one store in a chain to sell beer and wine. So any big chain moving in would likely not have beer and wine at this location. Dawson's is convenient and the quality is usually good. I find it a little pricier than typical grocery stores, but I like supporting a local business. And their salad/hot food bar, deli sandwiches and bakery are pretty good. I've also had good luck with their wine and beer selections.

Which Trader Joe's sells beer and wine?

There will be blood on the streets in Bon Chon leaves.

Apart from that, yes, RTC has seen some turnover. But it's a great spot to visit year-round with kids. Excellent library, good toy store and good places to eat. The skating rink, fountains and grassy/turf area with rocks are always full.

You disgruntled posters should just go back to Avenel and to Potomac Village.

Any idea what they are doing with that hideous area right across the street from Town Center (where they recently completed Bank of America)? Are they scheduled to finish that big vacant grass lot any time soon?

That area is going to be an extension of the town center with more street level stores and walkable green space. The upper floors will be a senior living community.

OP here. I appreciate all the discussion and information provided. We definitely like a lot of what has been shared and it has encouraged us to continue to look at the area as a possible home for our family. Will explore all neighborhoods mentioned, as well as the home on sale by owner. Thank you all! What a wealth of information you guys are!

Yes, I heard it will be a senior assisted living center. Because that will rejuvenate Rockville town square

SuperFresh was slated to go in there. A supermarket with normal prices.

Trader Joes needs to rent that old Giant location off of Wooton Parkway near the high school. Huge parking lot, huge space, etc...

Heard they are going to build townhouses on the lot of the old shopping center off of Wootton Parkway. I would have loved a Trader Joe's there also.

A bit west of the Rockville West End is good to live in too.
Off Falls Road. Fallsmead ES. Wootten HS. Everyone I talk to that lives there and have grown kids raves about that area. In general, home prices are higher than the West End side.
Bethesda downtown is good but the home prices are insane there.

It will not be assisted living. It will be apartments for people who are 62 or older and live independently. And yes, it should be good for the area. It's not just younger people who walk around and buy stuff.
