I don't do SeaWorld or the circus. I feel conflicted about the National Zoo, but I have gone a few times.

I wont go to a Seaworld, or a circus with animals in it.
I have been to the Natiomal Zoo which is not perfect but at least the animals arent abused and made to perform tricks for our benefit.

All animals in zoos are trained daily so they can be safely and effectively fed, medicated, bathed, etc. by trainers. Your idea that the National Zoo is better and more humane than SeaWorld is merely a fantasy.

Regardless of if you've ever been to SeaWorld, would you go from here on out, knowing what we know now? It's time for them to put an end to their large animal shows.

Would never go (only went as a child). Never. It's time for them to go away and that will only happen if people stop going. And, people should stop going.
Really, I don't see how anyone justifies it. Rarely are things black and white but this is one that is (no pun intended).

I have never and would never go to a zoo with animals. Those places are pits of cruelty.

I rarely go to zoos. I think they are not ideal, for certain. And not all zoos are the same. Having said that, zoos do some work with and for conservation/education. Entertainment is not the primary focus. Thus, they get a little more slack from me, but with a high dose of skepticism.

No, I don't.
And I do tell my kids that I wonder if animals in zoos are happy. So they start wondering too.

Where are these animal-less zoos?

I thought the primary focus of SeaWorld was profits. You guys need to get your talking points straight.

1) OP, no, like you, I can't stand it. Will never go to Sea World now that I know what I know.

2) PP, we do not go to circuses except those with domesticated animals, such as the Big Apple Circus, which only has dogs and horses. And they are big on humane treatment of all the animals under their care. Zoos? We go to zoos but we research them ahead of time. We go to National Zoo but do NOT go to local rinky-dink ones like Reston Zoo (TERRIBLE history there) or other ones like this.

How about beef? Poultry? Fish? Handbags? Leather shoes? Shrimp Lobster? Trust me those animals suffer much more.

The primary focus of SeaWorld is profits. Entertainment is the means to achieve this. They sell entertainment in order to make a profit.

That's the "you can't oppose anything unless you oppose everything" argument.
