Hamilton. No question.

I would visit them all and then look at who offers the most merit aid.

Hamilton. No question.

Can you elaborate? Kenyon and Hamilton are both ED possibilities for my daughter.

You won't get a dime of merit aid from Hamilton.

Yes, Hamilton offers financial aid, no merit aid.

Kenyon offers merit aid to a small number of students.

Sewanee offers lots of merit aid.

When faced with a choice like this, just pick the top ranked school.

"When faced with a choice like this, just pick the top ranked school."

Terrible idea. You need to see these schools. They are pretty different. My daughter attends Sewanee but I would not for the life of me say it is the right school for everyone.

If you want to work on the west coast - do any of these have brand name power there?

None have brand name power but all have strong, committed alumni networks. Of the three, Kenyon is the biggest name IMO.

If you want the option of working south of the Mason-Dixon, isn't Sewanee the way to go?

If you're smart enough to get into Kenyon or Hamilton you're smart enough to get a job in Jacksonville. Go to whichever feels best to you. You are not likely to be conflicted. 3 very different environments for small schools in the woods.

Hamilton and Kenyon are not different from one another and are both on my DD list. They both have excellent options for writers and are small and great for a student who wants to go to a school with a more remote setting, which can promote unity between students on campus.

Doesn't Sewanee have equally excellent options for writers?

Sewanee is the home of the Sewanee Review which was founded in 1892 and the school has a very strong writing tradition including the Sewanee Writer's conference. Writing is a core value and core legacy at Sewanee.
