Do you think Shepherd Elementary will become/is becoming more diverse?

The school is rarely mentioned (except when talking about boundaries) and I was really pleased to see such a positive thread about the school. It really does seem like a great school and we will likely pull our kid from his HRCS to join Shepherd. We are struggling with this thought as he has made really good school friends in the last 2 years at his current school.

So I am really asking as nice as possible if we can let the race arguments stop for love of poor Shepherd that never gets love on DCUM

Does anyone know the number of classes per grade (specifically K+)?

Seems that every single thread on DCUM as of late, turns into some race argument. I keep wondering if people are starting to troll.

I know. It's kind of sad that this Shepherd post turned so ugly so fast because Shepherd rarely gets discussed here. It's not the same as a JKLMS thread turning ugly because they get a dozen threads a day. It was mainly positive, even regarding race/diversity. Then 1-2 people had to go there.

George Orwell would be impressed to see how we have bastardized the "diverse" word.

OP's initial question was about race. Of course that doesn't excuse any nastiness that may have come in (from both sides, frankly).

Huh? Have you ever looked it up in a dictionary? 95% of any race is not diverse. Neither is 80%. Get a grip. I'm sure Orwell's English skills were better than yours.

Still reading, but have almost given up posting. Lots of posts now turn really ugly fast. Also, so many obviously fake posts that you can see the holes in from a mile. Also, seems like the same type of questions get posted "ad infinitum".

OP should have just asked if more white kids will come to SP in the future.

Shouldn't we, once and for all, stop categorizing people on the basis of race?

What sides are there? Black vs white or JKLM vs anyone?

Or, people who take responsibility vs those who prefer to blame others

Who has blamed whom for what? Who needs to take responsibility for what? This thread is getting ever more confused.

What the hell are you talking about now? Responsibilty for what? I really have no idea what you're talking about? Are you on the wrong thread?

The fact that Shepherd is finally starting to get a little bit of love (or hate, as it were) on DCUM makes me even more interested to see the upcoming lottery results--wondering if the convergence of the still newish IB curriculum, the new PK3 class, and the rising in-boundary % will mean more lottery interest. Would love to have even more engaged, involved families interested in joining us at Shepherd. I guess we'll find out later this week!

When people were painting their lottery choices, Shepherd was on a lot of people's list. Even though this thread went left, I don't think anyone "hated" on the school and I'm happy about that.

Who on this thread said that they hate Shepherd? Don't be so sensitive just because someone asks about demographics and people comment on that.

I think she was just referring to the hateful comments (not directly aimed at Shepherd).
