I'm using trash as shorthand. I'm talking about many basic city services. Where do you live? Where did you live in the 1990s? |
And the vision to revitalize burnt out U Street, Shaw. He fought to put the new District building there, believing that it would spur development. He was right. |
If the trash was picked up EOP, it was an appropriate quote. Those were MB's voters, not those WOP. |
| He was only Mayor for half of the 90s. It's a 50/50 shot whether the pp is talking about Barry or not. |
What PC nonsense.

The white yuppies of DC are grieving? Really? |
Some of the ones who grew up here are, yes. I'm a native and there are many on my FB feed. Also, there are more than just "white yuppies" on this site. |
The Reeves Center - I forgot. Right on. He built something at 14th and U when the only thing that intersection had going on was open air drug sales. |
+2. So sad that someone needed to pile on as soon as reading the news. |
LOL - touche'! |
I have only been in the DC area since the early 90's and frankly, my entire experience with Barry has been his later embarassing career including the drugs and criminal behavior. But I still know and recognize how much he did in the first half of his career and respect Jeff's compassion in asking for a delay in the condemnations while those who remember all that he has done have a chance to mourn. PP, your behavior is rather reprehensible; right up there with the Westboro Baptist Church. |
Well that's kind of a silly thing to say, especially from the Moderator… Someone else posted this string is akin to a funeral for DC residents. Well if that's the case why not post it on the 'Other' forum vice the Political Discussion forum? Instead you choose to snark at your guests offering they rummage in the expectant mothers forum? Sophomoric man... |
LOL, 'curtailed temporarily' is censored. This is like a page out of animal farm… All animals are equal, except some are more equal than others. There will be no discussion during periods of mourning. There will be no periods other than mourning. Even Mayor Barry would use a funeral to make a point if he felt it necessary, its childish to not think a politician's death is not an opportunity to advance the great debate. especially one who died of old age after a long and uniquely illustrious and controversial career. If he was perhaps assassinated young, while in office perhaps you may have a point but come now. This is a Political Discussion forum, not a mourners blog… mourners should be mourning and not surfing the web. MB would never be so thin skinned, why are you? |
| PP, why don't you just go and find one of the hundreds of thousands of other sites with an article about Barry's death to comment on? |
A page out of animal farm? :roll Advance the great debate?
What a blowhard. |
