| Why is it "pathetic" to strive for growth in your career? Limited salary growth and no partnership is frustrating after 15 years. Why is that wrong? Isn't it the American Way to strive for growth? Is anyone happy/content when their hard work and loyalty to a firm is not rewarded with increased salary and/or advancement (partnership)? The specific question of money was asking, if $750K was typical in the field or not? And, yes, it would be nice (I think most people would like to make more money) - that's why millions of people work to advance their careers. It's also why millions play the lottery. Not many people in our country are satisfied to just hangout and live with the status quo. |

You sound like an insufferable b!tch. Yeah I said it , your hubby makes 4 to 5 times as much as the teacher, firefighter , farmer, FBI agent , soldier , pilot, just to name a few . You know people whose jobs are actually critical to our society and whose disappearances ( God forbid ) could potentially put an end to civilization as we know it . If lobbyists stop existing this country would be a heck of a lot better . Your precious little hubby is getting paid $350k to be the errand boy of some industry and that isn't enough for you. Calling you spiritually bankrupt wouldn't do you justice , how about you go make your own $750k ? Besides why aren't you making that ? Never mind , why bother trying to make $750k of your own when your boy toy of a husband should 'Slave' his life away to satisfy you. I suspect that were he to make that amount , it will be only a matter of time before you start wondering why he isn't making $1M like some other lobbyist yoh heard about . |
| 9:46 Clearly you are the sad soul! Your anger, hatred, and judgement of someone you don't know is embarrassing and shameful. You should look at your own actions and hateful words before you judge someone for asking a question. Wow! |
| I guess I can't begrudge anyone what the industry is willing to pay them. I know I would not be happy in that job, even though I wish I made more money doing what I'm actually interested in. |
NP . Did he lie? I also noticed you've brought no argument of your own which is symptomatic of people who have nothing to say . |

Hello to people wondering how to become a lobbyist:
1. Work on the local, state, and federal level in the legislatures and/or regulatory bodies. 2. Develop and industry expertise 3. A law degree helps but is not imperative 4. Get a job at a lobbying firm or trade association 5. Good luck! |
| Our lobbyists (who have other titles; this is a dirty word where I work) make between $65K - $100K each depending on their past experience and connections/capacity. I work for a nonprofit in the education sector. Our Executive Director makes less than $200K so nobody here is making the big-big bucks. We work for the mission and the flexible schedules and other typical nonprofit perks. |
| 13:43 What? Did you drink wine at lunch? Your words make no sense? Who lied? Who's he? What argument is suppose to be made? Simply telling the pp they are the person in the wrong for their rude, judgmental, and shameful post when they don't even know the person or what they are going through. |
| There's a big difference between the lobbyist (or legislative folks) for non-profits and the big money trade lobbyist. One of them is trying to crank out persuasive one page fact sheets like a policy wonk and the other is more like a big ticket salesperson with swanky benes and campaign contributions. I think it's a pretty different career path, but I might be wrong on that. |
