| This would be on the supply side, I imagine. |
|
yeah, I can guarantee lobbyists for most causes make NOTHING like this.
I am curious what my friend who works at NEA makes, though. I imagine way more than she made at the other ed assoc. that she started for. |
| OP here. That's what it is a trade association. They represent a number of firms that are in that industry. |
|
Typical trade association pay. I work at one and out top people earn that. Slowly working my way up!
Firm lobbyists, especially the partners/managing directors make way over that. I like association life because my work hours are normal. I was at a firm for years but as a PP said I left the firm for my "normal" job (association) when I started having kids. Now I don't make 750 but expect to in about 5 years. |
+10000 Some people have no problem selling their soul. It makes no difference if you are religious, but really, can these people sleep at night? |
This...a million times this.
|
| My lobbiest husband makes under 150. But his is very 9-5. |
Totally sleep at night. You have no idea what issue I lobby on. No soul selling needed. |
|
Lobbyists are not paid what they are "worth" to society or to the degree to which they must "sell their soul." They are paid what their client is willing to pay for their services. If the lobbyist can provide tremendous financial value to a client with significant means, then they may be paid a ton. No soul selling may be needed. On the other hand, if they help advance a cause that has little money to be gained and the client has limited financial resources, they may be a scratch above volunteer.
I have no doubt that Washington has many million dollar lobbyists sleeping well tonight. |
Please it a lot better life vs big law. I never understand the draw of big law. |
|
Big Law
Lobbyist Hedge Fund Manager All are soulless and boring in my book. But the pay can be worth it for some, I guess. |
|
Wayne lapierre of the NRA makes $972k.
All he has to do is show up after a school massacre and say the problem is that there aren't enough guns. If you can be feckless enough to be the gun lobby's lapdog you can make a good living.
|
There is also this guy who compared tobacco to lettuce. He is a sweetheart...
|
| How do you get a job as a lobbyist? What kind of background/experience do you need? |
And of course plutocrats like these employs these whores willing to sell their credibility and reputation to advance a point of view no matter how decrepit. They have long advocated for the end of the EPA and the right of corporations to pollute the environment to their hearts' content.
Whores, line up to get your crumbs. |
