What are you cooking for dinner tonight?

You sound so pretentious. Freshly sliced pepperoni, gobs of cheese and homemade cole slaw. I loathe those adjectives. You're feeding your family pepperoni pizza and a salad with iceberg lettuce and mayonnaise. Stop acting like you're special.

I had to read this a couple of times in an attempt to figure out if you're joking. Still haven't figured it out. Are you joking?

I'm the sausage, apple, onion poster. I added sweet potato at the last minute because I saw them on the counter and thought "why not"?

Start to finish it took me about 15 minutes, I'd prep something, put it in the pan, prep the next ingredient and put it in, etc . . .

Very tasty and one pan to clean.

Whole grain pasta with homemade pesto which we made on a weekend last year and froze in ice cube trays.
Garlic bread with basil butter the kids made.
Steamed broccoli.
Lemonade the kids made today.
Shrimp on skewers with garlic salt grilled in cast iron grill on the stove.

A typical summer meal for us. Took about 20 minutes to make but having the pesto and basil butter already made was key. Can't wait for my husband to get home from a 3 week trip. We miss the grill. I don't have it in me to tackle the grill after a day of work.

Really? You think this sounds pretentious? Did you read the other posts lol. If I had written this I would have worded it differently not because I'm pretentious but because I'm a foodie and words/descriptions mean a lot. It's just as important as the food presentation.

My description: flatbread pizza with three cheeses and hand sliced pepperoni with house slaw.

Ps. Stop picking on people unnecessarily.

What damn difference does it make if it was sliced freshly or by hand, though? LOL

Yes- that's my point! She's serving pepperoni pizza. I have no issue with this whatsoever. My kids had pizza last night. Had the question been asked yesterday, I would have responded, "made our own whole wheat pizza."

Is no one else bothered by the excessive detail "gobs, fresh, homemade?" It's a friggin pizza. Just say- made our own pizza and slaw- yum!!

P.s- i make coleslaw with iceberg. You should try it sometime. My kids prefer it to cabbage

Sorry, you are seriously mentally ill if someone else describing their food in detail on a food forum thread drives you over the edge and makes you act so bitchy.

And iceberg lettuce is not an ingredient in coleslaw, I don't care how unrefined your family's palates are. It's not. You're making some weird shredded lettuce and mayo salad, but that ain't "slaw."

Seared scallops
Spaghetti in olive oil, garlic, red pepper flake, and lemon
Sauteed spinach with garlic and olive oil
Dessert is homemade ice cream cake with strawberry ice cream, graham crackers, and chunks of cheesecake.

Do you work outside the home? If not, how can you do all that after work?

Other than cake, this could be whipped up in 20 min.

Gosh, I wish I could eat this without gaining weight.

I'm not joking! I find the adjectives so obnoxious. We're talking about a pizza here!

Yesterday I made my son a PB&J with two dollops of hand pressed organic peanut butter smothered on freshly baked 7 grain bread and marmalade homemade from the sweetest kumquats the world has ever seen.

That's it? I would eat half a bag of chips....

And then ask what's for dinner?

If this was my dinner, I'd eat the entire bag.

It will be a late dinner because the wife and I are going to a spin class, so this is a bit of a quick indulgence.

This is an indulgent meal!?

Same poster here - indulgent because almost everything is out of a box or a jar. I hate "cooking" like that.

Ah! Makes sense.

Well...as a counterpoint...it sounds like you don't have kids, so you could just go out for a nice bite to eat somewhere healthy but tasty after your class.

True. But usually we are so sweaty and smelly we bother even ourselves so showering is of primary importance.

Since I have two kids, I am very envious of any lifestyle that includes spinning and a 9pm dinner! Sweat all you like in public, you guys are living the dream!

It always make me sad when people with kids say things like this. Please don't say them in your kids' earshot.

Oh good grief, person. Lighten up

My kids are 1, 4 and 7, so I cook for them. http://www.yummly.com/recipes/iceberg-lettuce-slaw

Some recipes to try.

We're camping and kept it super easy. Pork chops on grill, baked beans and broccoli.
