Old School Songs (Really old, old school)

You don't think all these songs are about trying to get in someone's pants? Or, to be more chronologically correct, under someone's skirt?

PP here. Don't try and tell me what I think or how I am interpreting these songs or the image or feelings I would like my daughter to experience. Don't go there.

Please, whatever you do, just don't fall prey to posters who want to turn this thread into something dark. We live with this way of life every single damn day. It's been nice to step back and take lyrics to heart. Let it go. Too many threads fall prey to posters who want to turn something fun into something ugly.

Everybody, male or female, what's to feel that they're unforgettable.

Nat King Cole "Unforgettable"

Unforgettable
That's what you are,
Unforgettable
Tho' near or far.

Like a song of love that clings to me,
How the thought of you does things to me.
Never before
Has someone been more...

Unforgettable
In every way,
And forever more
That's how you'll stay.

That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am
Unforgettable, too.

[interlude]

Unforgettable
In every way,
And forever more
That's how you'll stay.

That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am
Unforgettable, too.

I'm turning Japanese
I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese
I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
I'm turning Japanese
I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so
Turning Japanese
I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so

It doesn't get any more profound or moving than that!

OP here. So enjoyed most of you especially with some wonderful yesteryear songs I'd totally forgot. I see that posts are taking a turn from the original intent. Guess it's time to say good-night, Gracie.

I hold you in my arms
as the band plays
What are those words whispered baby
just as you turn away
I saw you last night
out on the edge of town
I wanna read your mind
To know just what I've got in this new thing I've found
So tell me what I see
when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby
or just a brilliant disguise

I heard somebody call your name
from underneath our willow
I saw something tucked in shame
underneath your pillow
Well I've tried so hard baby
but I just can't see
What a woman like you
is doing with me
So tell me who I see
when I look in your eyes
Is that you baby
or just a brilliant disguise

Now look at me baby
struggling to do everything right
And then it all falls apart
when out go the lights
I'm just a lonely pilgrim
I walk this world in wealth
I want to know if it's you I don't trust
'cause I damn sure don't trust myself

Now you play the loving woman
I'll play the faithful man
But just don't look too close
into the palm of my hand
We stood at the alter
the gypsy swore our future was right
But come the wee wee hours
Well maybe baby the gypsy lied
So when you look at me
you better look hard and look twice
Is that me baby
or just a brilliant disguise

Tonight our bed is cold
I'm lost in the darkness of our love
God have mercy on the man
Who doubts what he's sure of

Really really old school:

After the ball is over
After the break of morn
After the dancers leaving
After the stars have gone

Many a heart is breaking
If you could read them all
Many the hopes that have vanished
After the ball.

I don't think we're married. I'm a lady.
