Do you send peanut butter and/or nuts in your kid's lunches?

If I had an issue with my school's policy regarding nuts/nut butters in lunches, I would take it up with the school, not expect individual parents to second guess the school policy. But I subscribe to the school of thought that the allergic child needs to learn to live safely in the world as it is. I can't put him in a bubble, and better that he learns young what precautions he needs to take.

This is a fine attitude for child maybe third grade or second grade and above..not for nursery or first grade..they are too young and should have to die because of a screw up.

Yes, send them to school with peanuts and nutella etc.

children with allergies sit at an allergy free table and the teachers monitor them closely.

As long as the school allows it, I am sending nuts with lunch.

My dd is allergic to peanuts, and she sits at the peanut free table. But, the teacher does not monitor them closely at all. In fact, the teacher doesn't eat in the lunchroom with the children. The cafeteria is overseen by one teaching assistant and various parent volunteers. The best thing to do is role model with your child and practice different scenarios.
