One more time:

Pls explain why you are against interracial marriages.

And you are arguing with more than one poster.

In previous threads, she said she opposed interracial marriages & relationships because it causes "cultural discord" when the races mix. She was never able to formulate a coherent reply when multiple people pointed out how absurd that is, and why she feels the races have such distinct "cultures." Or that people within a particular race/culture/ethnicity/whatever experience discord all the time.

In addition to the "discord" she's also against adoption - especially international adoption. She's a real piece of work.

Also, don't bother waiting for a response from that racist. They have repeatedly stated that they don't feel like they have to justify their racism (of course, racism can *never* be justified)

Lies to get you idiots talking. No one gives a damn about a cheerios commercial. I bet no one even watched it until they put this story out.

I don't agree with interracial marriages yet I still don't care about the commercial nor do I care that others take my views as a free pass to behave like ranting toddlers. My opinion will not change.

Now go get some CheeriGMOS.

The racist comments on this interracial commercial show that America is not a melting pot.

Honestly, my first reaction was, "what a cute little girl" and "the dad is hotttt!."

great casting, beautiful family.

I think Don Draper won the Cheerios account.

I think this comes from the fact that people are so obsessed about what others think of them. So many people have such a need to be accepted by everyone. But everyone cannot be mainstream.

I'm white and am married to a black man. I don't care if I see "interracial" couples on tv. I don't care if people support or criticize us. I don't need a cheerio commercial. That recent one would be cute with any couple and any cute kid. My husband and I are just living our lives the best we can. Sometimes, I feel a little patronized when people feel the need to voice their support for us, and by interracial commercials. It's fine to me if that's who they happen to cast, but I think it's weird to purposely cast an interracial couple to make a statement.

She offered to explain it.

I figured she was too stupid to come up with a cogent reason.

I didn't offer to explain. I said that when an opinion differs from your own, it's best to ask why they hold the viewpoint vs instantly throwing out insults and acting like a jackass.

Based on the tone of this thread, any explanation won't be accepted as valid, so I won't waste my time.

Racism isn't a valid belief system. I don't understand why everyone is bothering to argue with the PP. She doesn't need to hold the same beliefs as me and I don't need to believe she has a valid reason for her racist ideas.

+1

There's no explaining racist beliefs held by the PP, because racism can't be rationalized.

Didn't read all the posts, but it's a cute commercial.

And for those who don't think they should make a point of showing a mixed couple, I think you have it backwards. They finally stopped making a point of NOT showing a mixed couple.
