New Post: My kid will not go to elementary school to learn reading, writing, math etc. He will learn these subjects at home. Some of his math education at home includes the kumon method and exercises with his family. We homeschool our children. Please stop making stupid assumptions about others. Your concept of education is so rigid, backward, and anachronistic. Education of children (and adults) is not confined to the 4 walls of elementary school. Should children who do not attend elementary school simply not work with their parents and siblings at home because you say so and you children go to elementary school? Grow up mother. Not everyone wants to be like you and your children. |
How much does this cost? |
I have completely lost track of your argument. You have confused people on this post. You sound like a raving lunatic now with nothing else to contribute. Please take your insanity elsewhere. |
Um.. I can tell.. you are not a NP. You are the same insane poster that keeps spewing something about a lock and key. I can tell by your diction. |
| One of several posters, now, observing your assumptions. I hope I got the diction right. |
yea, right. Or maybe you are just schizo so there are "several posters"... sure seems like it. |
| Dcum is usually only populated by one poster. Is that you? |
| So... What's the difference between buying the workbooks and paying to attend the sessions? Is there any real advantage to paying for it? I'm seriously asking. |
| No. |
It's cheating, therefore illegal and a felon. This prep work is not done within the confines of the elementary school's 4 walls. Preparation must equal play. There are great summer play camps for $200 to $400 a week in the area. |
This is why US children are far behind other countries in math & science. |
So you are advocating that we should have the same insane after-school tutoring for young children that the Asian countries have? No thanks. If that means the US lags behind in some test scores, I'll take that over a generation of kids that have only known after school tutoring and not have a childhood. IMO, life is more than just test scores and getting into an Ivy. In the US, a person can go to a 2nd tier college and still have a great job and a happy life. This may not be the case in Asian countries. I'm pretty sure without Kumon a person can do just as well in life. |
I don't think the vast majority of parents in the European countries that scored higher than the US send their kids to kumon. So, how do you explain why these countries scored higher? |
This is easy. That is because they have better schools. If the schools here teach math better, there will be no need for Kumon. |
Do they have better schools? What does it mean to be "better"? Like rote memory learning is better? Better like the government pays for *everything*, even college? Then yea, European schools are better. Better like kids are better behaved so they don't have as much disciplinary problems so the teachers can actually spend the time teaching rather than focusing on disciplining, so they are able to cover more material? Then yea, there's is better. So many different definitions of "better". |
