celebrant for non-religious "baptism"

So someone comes on here unwilling to join the shitstorm of bashing you are all inflicting on a mom wanting to celebrate a joyous occassion, in a unique way, and because you don't get it, don't want to try, all in the name of "confusion"but really because she's not following what you would do, you pile on? In the name of "respecting religion?" To say you all suck is an understatement.

Yes! I want you to be my guru on all matters spiritual! How to be calm and gentle. How to really listen to what others tell you.

And yeah.... we're still waiting for YOUR explanation of why OP needs a celebrant. Seize the day. You have a great opportunity right now to clear up our "confusion."

I feel like OP would get more sympathy if you weren't "advocating" for her.

Does anyone know of anyone who might help? I'm not looking to pay a lot (at all) and would be open to a student or intern. We live in Reston.

There's a name for what you want to do. It's not a "baptism." It's called a party for a newborn, and I've been to plenty of them. They're fun. Gravitas often just translates into action as pretension.
