What franchises have you seen in other parts of the country that you wish were in the D.C. area?

Rubios

Delicious and inexpensive fish tacos, rice, high quality fast food. Makes Chipotle look like a joke.

Beard Papa's cream puffs. Puts all of those goofy cupcake shops to shame. That place would clean up in Georgetown.
The adorable name and logo don't hurt.

Schlotzsky's, Zaxby's, and I think we need more Arby's (shiny beef!).

I also think that if someone opened a Taco Bell in downtown near Metro Center it would do gangbuster business.

Longs Drugs and Zippys (from Hawaii).

Jack-in-the-Box and Churches' have come and gone from this area. (I think most Churches' closed back in the 80's after a big food poisoning scandal). Jack in the Box was in Ananndale back in the 70s or 80s.

Roy Rogers - in addition to Belle View there is one in Kingstowne

Cheeseburger in Paradise - Woodbridge I believe.

What about non-fast food franchises? Are you interested in other business categories?

Oh wow. I forgot all about Schlotzsky's. I spent a month in Mesa years ago and ate at the one across the lot from my hotel almost every day.

If not fast food...

WAWA!! Please, please, please! I know there are a couple around here (Beltsville has a brand new one). But, second to UPenn's awesome radio statin WXPN, Wawas are what I miss most from Philly.

For those unfamiliar, it's a convenience store that sells hoagies and kick ass coffee. They also routinely stock healthier snack options (hummus and pita, tons of fruit, wraps, cheese sticks, etc). Some of them also have gas stations.

Play it Again Sports and Kohls -- within the beltway

Skyline -- there was a Goldstar in Union Station 20 years ago, but hasn't returned to the area

Sonic within the Beltway

Second the Wawa and United Dairy Farmers requests. 7-11 pales in comparison to them both.

Lou Malnati's or Portillos!

I would love a Mast General Store. They tend to only be in smaller to mid-sized Southern markets, but are my favorite place to stop when in those areas.

I would put Meijer more in the Super Walmart or K-Mart category than the Super Target.

My husband wants to open a Wild Wings Cafe. (Just a dream for him at this point).

Love that pizza!

Yes!! Please bring a Papa Murphy's out here! The best, healthiest pizza I've ever found. And cheap too!

However, if that's too much to ask, could we just get a few drive-thru coffee places (even drive-thru Starbucks would do!), I'm so sick of having to take 3 kids out of car seats just to get good coffee. McDonalds is NOT good and it doesn't count.

Do you mean Saxby's coffee? If so, there is one in Fairfax across Braddock Road from GMU.
