Nothing you do on the Internet is completely anonymous.

Anonymous wrote:The OP was not bullying anyone. The OP was only stating an opinion like everyone else on DCUM so there was no need for Jeff to take the extra step by saying he knew something personal about the OP

When Jeff says that an individual is posting something as "anonymous" a reasonable person would believe they are doing so anonymously.

Hello - nobody knows her name. She's still anonymous. Other than the fact that we know she's a hypocrite, her identity is completely safe.

OP was trolling and Jeff was entirely correct in calling him/her out if he felt like it.

There are no "rights" on the internet and "insider information" doesn't mean what you think it means.

I think Jeff is doing a fine, ethical, and honest job of running this site.

I also think he has an excellent sense of humor calling out OP for such a dumb and hypocritical thread.

Oh, and I'm not one of Jeff's "followers". I'm a reader of a website he owns.

After four days have now passed you say that no one is certain about the name of the OP. Jeff if your intentions were good, why did wait four days to let the OP in on the secret that you had not tracked him/her down to their computer terminal.

You freely throw rotten insults at the OP while at the same time you have traced to her workplace after allowing her to log on as anonymous.

OP was just a person who made a quick post. OP did not deserve to have Jeff respond to her in an aggressive and personal way. To go after an anonymous blogger in a personal way was a violation of trust. If Jeff is going to disclose personal information about anyone then he should stop misleading the public and he should eliminate the apparently false status he presently calls "Anonymous".

Actually, Jeff explained that on day 1, just a few hours after the OP started this thread.

You freely throw rotten insults at the OP while at the same time you have traced to her workplace after allowing her to log on as anonymous.

As Jeff explained, the IP address is on his screen whether he wants it there or not, and he can't unlearn to recognize a work IP address.

If you don't know how to read posts (including date/time stamps), you should eliminate the time you spend online.

Thank you, Jeff, for sticking up for teachers. Working in DC is hard and most of us put in a lot of time and effort, but unfortunately, earn little respect. We are continuously called "lazy" and "dumb" and told that we have it easy since we have summers and vacations off.

It is not an easy job but it is a job that rewards us everyday through smiles and hugs and seeing the pride in our students' eyes when they accomplish something big.

The OP was being a bully. It was just another way to say, "Hey everyone, let's pick on the teachers!"

Jeff shut that down quickly. Thanks again, Jeff.

No more responses to this post? I guess people are afraid of revealing their identities on "Anonymous" posting.
