Two Wongs don't make it right, PP!

My kids are Asian sometimes (they're mixed) they were born & raised here. Most of their friends are Asian and all are born here. I don't know if the publish birth places anywhere but the majority of the minority that's in the majority in TJ is born here I'm sure.

To the complainers: What is your solution? Limit yellow people? Quotas? Eliminate the merit based tests and give it to the politically correct class?

When you "invent" the sport, set the rules and dominate; then the adversaries catch up and start to win; it's time to invent and elevate the concept of sportmanship (change the rules)

Why am I not surprised with the amount of racism appearing on this thread? We have come so far but yet have many miles to go.

please. To geet into TJ one has to pass a rigorous test in math and verbal and write two essays. So something is fishy when TJ has to hire ESL teachers. Again, these kids are 15 and allegedly born here, so why would they need an ESL teacher.

do you have facts to back this up? that there are ESL teachers at TJ that are serving A LOT of students?
ESL teachers are required by fairfax county. again there could be a myriad of reasons why a student might need ESL services. my oldest is currently entering kindergarten and speaks fluent english but has been exposed to another language at birth. ALL the moms out there warn me not to put down that another language besides english was their first language because they will be stuck in ESL per fairfax county rules. so who knows?
no one said that ALL TJ students were born in the U.S. please get a grip and focus on your own kids.

haha. you all are too funny.
as a non-asian, i'd rather have my sons be the nerd in high school. all the popular (and mostly white kids) became unrecognizable when we had reunions during college - overweight from too much beer.. also balding early. and all the girls became wrinkly and old fast too. there's something to be said about hard work paying off in the end. it's the nerds that are successsful now with beautiful families. i'm making broad generalizations here, but if i had a choice, being a nerd is better.

True. Happened to us when our first kid went to school we noted on the form that another language was spoken in our house (Celtic) and he was stuck in ESL hell for almost a year. It's bureaucracy out of control. Worst part was the bureaucrats barley spoke english themselves (it's really a spanish language cruch). I'm sure if there are ESL teachers at TJ they speak spanish not Hindi, Urdu, or Korean.

The last bastion of institutional racism is the Government. They need to know races so they can manipulate the results based on race. My business is not even be allowed to ask, much less favor a particular race. They get real uncomfortable when it doesn’t fit their desires. They would be jumping up & down with joy if it were Hispanics in the majority and the racists would never complain about the fact that they study too much and need to watch more TV or something. Asians (whatever that is) confuse the pundits and that is awkward for them.

One of the great things about TJ is that it is mostly merit based, which the lazy hate. Have your kids watch less TV and study more and they can go to TJ. That's my plan. I'm as pink as they come and I feel comfortable they'll do fine.

So very true. It's the entitlement syndrome many "trust fund" families have. They want to have their cake and eat it too, "play and have fun" (a more noble pasttime) whilst getting (demanding) straight As en route to Big 3 and IVY. They can't stand it that others are flat out outperforming their children and they rationalize by name calling "superiorly prepped" other kids vs. their "naturally gifted and smart" kids; robotic followers vs. their natural leader "Marlboro Man" kids ... and so on and so forth.

Good news is that TJ will get lots of invitations to other schools' homecoming games.

Really? Because the most successful people I know have both high IQ and EQ, not one more dominant than the other. In fact a lot of successful people at work are average or a little above average intelligence with high EQ and social skills. The ones with mostly high IQ and low or seemingly non-existent EQ are in a career rut; they have gone as high as their IQ has allowed but do not seem to be able to achieve anything more.

Really? I would change careers. I have seen part of the downfall of america is the dull people in senior positions. They schmooze their way up, but can not grasp the complex issues and can not produce the strategic guidance for the companies.

Those at the top keep the smart underlings running the show while they take the credit. They make sure the underlings do not progress to the upper echelons. That's exclusively for tall white men. And some token minorities.
