There are ESL teachers at other county schools as well. But, the number of students they serve is insignificant compared to the entire student population in most schools.
please. To geet into TJ one has to pass a rigorous test in math and verbal and write two essays. So something is fishy when TJ has to hire ESL teachers. Again, these kids are 15 and allegedly born here, so why would they need an ESL teacher.
do you have facts to back this up? that there are ESL teachers at TJ that are serving A LOT of students? ESL teachers are required by fairfax county. again there could be a myriad of reasons why a student might need ESL services. my oldest is currently entering kindergarten and speaks fluent english but has been exposed to another language at birth. ALL the moms out there warn me not to put down that another language besides english was their first language because they will be stuck in ESL per fairfax county rules. so who knows? no one said that ALL TJ students were born in the U.S. please get a grip and focus on your own kids.
True. Happened to us when our first kid went to school we noted on the form that another language was spoken in our house (Celtic) and he was stuck in ESL hell for almost a year. It's bureaucracy out of control. Worst part was the bureaucrats barley spoke english themselves (it's really a spanish language cruch). I'm sure if there are ESL teachers at TJ they speak spanish not Hindi, Urdu, or Korean. The last bastion of institutional racism is the Government. They need to know races so they can manipulate the results based on race. My business is not even be allowed to ask, much less favor a particular race. They get real uncomfortable when it doesn’t fit their desires. They would be jumping up & down with joy if it were Hispanics in the majority and the racists would never complain about the fact that they study too much and need to watch more TV or something. Asians (whatever that is) confuse the pundits and that is awkward for them. One of the great things about TJ is that it is mostly merit based, which the lazy hate. Have your kids watch less TV and study more and they can go to TJ. That's my plan. I'm as pink as they come and I feel comfortable they'll do fine.
