Did you love the camp(s) your child(ren) attended this summer?

I loved, loved, loved going to Glen Echo during the summer! One of my favorite childhood memories.

I am looking for a soccer camp for the summer and wanted to get opinions of Georgetown International Youth Soccer (GIYS), Head First, or any other programs I may not of heard of. My son is 6. Any positive, negative experiences?

Very negative experience. NO supervision, no background checks on staffers, totally unorganized.

Soccer camp - my 7 year old just did a sports & games camp at Sidwell's lower school - the soccer was done by Soccer Pros (DC United player) - the coaches were fantastic with the little kids - had themed days (crazy socks, hats, etc.) - lots of fun. I know they are doing later weeks in August as well.

DD had an absolutely fabulous experience at Congressional Camp's "pony camp" last week. Without a doubt I'd rate it AAA+++ from the counselors to the aftercare program to drop-off and pick-up to lunches and snacks. Seriously, they really know how to run a great summer camp program.

Just finished the first session at Levine in DC and DC (6) loved it. Great mix of music, art, movement, etc. I wasn't crazy about the heavy reliance on unpaid middle-school students, but DC bonded with them quickly. Only donwisde: the never-ending end-of-camp show.

DD (age 8) just got back yesterday from a week at sleepover Girl Scout camp at Camp Potomac Woods. She absolutely LOVED it! The staff did a fabulous job managing the bus stop as well, especially for multiple camps buses. Highly recommended!

My kid has had excellent experiences at Glen Echo art camps, Corcoran art camps, and Georgetown Visitation tennis camp (run by Mitch Henkin). All are highly recommended.

Green Acres has been great. I didn't realize that the daily swimming would be so terrific. Basically the children get daily lessons. And they can swim again if they want during another activity choice. My son's swimming has really improved and it's just been a couple of weeks.

My 5 year old is having a great summer at Burgundy's summer camp. The daily swimming lessons have been great, and she loves exploring their grounds, seeing the farm animals, and all of the other activities they are offering!

I know this is a "love your camp" thread, but I have to say that Knights of Columbus camp in North Arlington has been absolutely unorganized to the point where I pulled DS out of camp.

Interesting -- my DS is a tough case, but he liked Knights of Columbus camp just fine.

Then again, he is a very independent type, so a hyperorganized camp would have done him (and us) in.

This was our second attempt with Knights of Columbus camp. We tried two years ago with DD and it was pretty bad then. A friend told me things had improved markedly so we gave it a try this year with DS. For us it was even worse than it was two years ago. Never again! Thankfully we managed to squeeze in a spot at Congressional Camp.

my dd is having a great experience at green acres -- swimming every day, great activities, fantastic counselors -- nothing fancy, just a lot of enthusiasm and fun. it's a lovely campus too. she went to washington episcopal last year and it wasn't nearly as good.
