Did you love the camp(s) your child(ren) attended this summer?

DD loved Girl Scout camp at Camp Potomac Woods this year. She did Pony Tails, which included daily horseback riding lessons at Lucia Farm.

Yes - Space Camp Huntsville - the kids will be going back there. And Acadia Institute of Oceanography - so great! Camp Calleva - not a hit, will not return.

We're at the end of the first week of session 2 of TIC Camp, and both of my kids absolutely love it! They both have said it's been their favorite camp experience (they've been attending different camps over the past three summers).

I've loved Barrie Camp this summer.

My boys (7 and 5) LOVED Homerun Baseball Camp

DS (almost 5) really enjoyed his two weeks at Headfirst's day camp, and his swimming definitely improved.

DC loves Congressional. Back again for another year and having a blast mixing and matching programs (Ropes Adventures was a huge hit). Campus is great, counsellors are terrific, already making plans to go back next year while still in camp this year.

DS enjoyed the half-day chess camp run by the US Chess Center. His chess skills have improved dramatically and, perhaps more importantly, his sportsmanship and chess etiquette improved as well.

We are considering this camp for next summer. What didn't work for you? Was it due to the location?

This has been our kids' 3rd year at the Levine School Camp in DC. They love it, and I'm amazed by how much they learn every year.

Camp Calleva - location was not a problem as we used the bus service, which was fine. My DC just did not care for it much - there was a mix of children, including a couple who seemed a bit "tough," not in a good way.

My rising second grader is splitting the summer between camps at the Zoo and at the Audubon Society in North Chevy Chase. He has loved every week so far.

My 7 year old is at homerun on capitol hill and we're very happy. My son is happy. It's a manageable group of kids (fairly small group). His baseball has really improved - both batting and fielding. He says his counselors play college baseball and they do seem to know more than the dads who coach his teams.

19:31 -- my DD (now 8.5) has gone to Calleva for 2 years now and completely loves it. Those other camps look amazing, btw, but they are in Maine and Alabama respectively. Different ball game if you are open to overnight camp, imho. Anyhow: Calleva has kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding. Fun, outdoorsy, no commentary from my child about rough kids (and she's a Type A pleaser, so she would have reported). To each their own, though. Those ME and AL camps look fabulous and I will definitely consider them when my DD is ready to go to overnight camps in a few years.
