Is Luke too Christian?

This is a weird question.

Why is it weird?

I don’t know any Jewish Lukes. Maybe Lucas.

Luke is the nickname for Lucas. My Jewish husband’s name is Lucas but he goes by Luke. Lucas feels very little kid to me.

Huh?

I agree that Lucas is less strongly associated with Christianity than Luke, and might be a better choice for someone who really loves the sound and meaning, but not the history of the name Luke. But the idea that a name that has existed in Christianity for thousands of years and is strongly associated with one of the most famous figures in Christianity is "very little kid" is bizarre and makes you sound very uneducated.

Are people so averse to Christianity that they won’t name their son after one of the gospel writers, fearing it will appear “too Christian”, in spite of it being a fairly common name otherwise?

Holy weirdness. It has nothing to do with Christianity. I only know adults who go by Luke, not Lucas. Jonathan also feels like a little kid name to me because I only know adults who go by Jon.

No. Only the theologians on DCUM are bothered by this sort of thing.
