| I would think that that Judaism isnt very important to your family. I would only judge if you insisted that religion was important because that makes you sound weird or hypocritical with such a Christian name. But otherwise I wouldnt care. |

Agree. |
We are observant Jews - a conservative Rabbi married us and our kids go to temple - my husband’s name is Luke. All of these judgements are so frustrating and sad. Luke is a great name and fwiw many people assume my husband is Jewish and no one has ever said anything about his name. There are kids at the temple named Ryan, Hayden, Mackenzie, etc and it’s conservative. I would never assume someone’s religiosity based on their name given to them by their parents nor do I spend time thinking about others’ religiosity. But I’m not judgemental like that. |
| Every Luke I know was raised as a Christian, especially Catholic, so I personally would avoid this name. |
| I wouldn't personally as a jew- I love Leo or Levi |
All of these are awful names but Jacob and there must be a million boys named Jacob. |
| Luke is a Christian name yes. |
are you not Jewish? these are all very common Jewish names... this comment is just plain mean. Noah is also like the top 1 or 2 baby boy name at the moment. |
| I know people who did this. They claim they named him after Luke Skywalker. |
| I named my son Luke because after darkness comes light. Luke, Lucas, Luca. Beautiful name and the next generation won’t associate it as much as you think they will. |
I also like the name Leo but I'm not sure it's so different from Luke. Leo is a Greek name meaning lion. There have been 13 popes called Leo. |
| Jewish mom who used Lucas as a middle name |
|
Luke is a lovely name and as a cultural but not practicing Catholic, I think anyone can use whatever name they want! |

The original “Christian” Luke was Jewish and one of the 12 Apostles.
It’s not like you’d be naming him “Ignatius Aloysisus Francis-Xavier.” |
