thoughts on this new home in mclean?

This thread feels like three realtors, two nosy neighbors and one prick from either Arlington or DC having a field day. May the best house win.

This thread is all realtors.

That side of McLean is having a mini heyday - as people want that school pyramid the most of any in Northern Viriginia. They will pay for it. It is not as if it is McLean HS - still good, but not in the eyes of those who want to brag to their friends and shut their ILs up, so to speak. Again, they are willing to pay whatever to be there. Basic Economics 101 - supply and demand. If you don't have the money, well then, it just isn't an option for you, now is it?

That said, there are people who bought the "old house" in McLean, and it shows. They can barely afford to be there! Their additions are half a** and just awful.

This thread is definitely not realtors. It is the usual DCUM, 2/3 know it alls who know nothing and could not afford McLean if they wanted to. In their case, it is negativity or nothing. SO obvious.

Maybe 1/3 actually know what they are talking about and either grew up in McLean or have aging parents who live there (mass produced WW II houses, brick was clearly the least expensive option then).

Not too many who can afford the new houses bother to post. They are not really interested in what a bunch of jealous people think. Enjoy your new house, OP. Tell us what you decided!

I love DCUM!

For some reason, this thread is comforting and funny to me. It's a nice escape from multiple stressors I am dealing with right now.

Thank-you.

A look at the inventory and recent sales in the Churchill Road (Langley) district compared to the Chesterbrook (McLean) or Franklin Sherman (Langley/McLean) districts reveals no preference for the Churchill Road area.

Case in point, OP.

These days people want easier access to metro and highways.

This house looks like a constipated mcmansion
Anonymous
OP, would you really listen to any trash that uses the word mcmansion? Really?

Not a flip.

OH, I remember when this house was on the market about a year or so ago. I think it was listed for $499K. So interesting that what now stands in its place is this new one. That road is somewhat of a mish-mash of different styles and ages of homes. But I agree it is a decent location, good schools.

On that score, this house is attractive. It's a couple of miles from a future Metro station, and near the GW Parkway, Chain Bridge, 495 and the Dulles Toll Road.

Some people have tried Metro and want nothing to do with it. If they insist, they go to Arlington. I'm pretty sure in McLean they can afford as many cars as they want/need.

I think this is the house you mean: http://franklymls.com/FX7527589

Not the one on Beverly, as a previous poster linked.

Cute house but the staging is absolutely terrible.
