Forestville ES received it in today's mail. NNAT score 160. Made me wonder if I am raising a future Einstein. Hmm... interesting

Got results today:

Ability Index: 155
Percentile Rank: 99
Raw Score: 46/48
NCE 99.0
STANINE: 9

I don' quite understand the NCE score. Also I don't know why FCPS administer this test in 1st grade when AAP selection is done in 2nd grade.

I think it was probably the burden on the 2nd graders to take 3 sections of CogAt (over the course of 3 days) plus the NNAT for 1 day. This way the tests are spread out more. (Or perhaps, they just want to see DCUrban Moms squirm for a whole extra year. )

Naglieri scores are also used for placement in Young Scholars classes for the (many) elementary schools that have them. Since so many 1st graders were taking the NNAT anyway, AAP decided to move all the Naglieri testing to 1st grade.

Is there a benchmark score for Young Scholars?

Did anybody NOT score in the 99th percentile?

Haha! My DC didn't. Guess the 99 per centers are posting. They don't want to look like they're bragging to their friends, but they have to tell SOMEONE! (Not making fun of the proud parents, seriously, congrats!)

Not that I know of. The AART prepares GBRS for all students in the elementary school, starting first with the K class in January. The GBRS plus NNAT helps determine placement for Young Scholars in 1st and 2nd grade (with the NNAT obviously used for 2nd grade placement).

The GBRS with commentary (which is different from only the GBRS) is prepared by the local screening committee for consideration for Level 4.

My DC didn't either. She was very anxious about the test (in 1st grade). She is in 2nd grade now and has a CogAT score that qualified her to be in-pool.
