Mindy Kaling Weight Loss

I don't think she especially likes being alone romantically, but now that she has the kids, she probably wisely does not want to bring a man into the situation.

I mean, your first paragraph describes many if not most women’s trajectory - young women are heavily motivated by things like hormones and biological processes to pair up.

Your second paragraph kind of makes my point. She’s in her 40s and has her kids and a big career, that doesn’t mean she’s pining for a man now. I certainly don’t get that impression.

Charlize Theron was recently interviewed about how she loves having her kids on her own and not having to answer to a man or anyone would have to raise them. She dates casually, but doesn’t necessarily see herself in another relationship. Seems like a lot of women land there at some point.

+1

She doesn't owe anyone any information about this, least of all random curious onlookers.

Right, or why we assume any celebrities are at all honest about the things that they do. All of them get various work done, be it surgeries, injections, procedures etc. and never talk about it. They take supplements or medications or go on weird diets or have three personal trainers at their beck and call and just never talk about it. Some of them out right lie but it’s their right. It’s no business of ours.

Why we are suddenly treating this differently is odd.

I feel conflicted about this because they literally make millions of dollars by keeping people interested in their lives and selling products (through sponsored ads) based on people trusting that the celeb is being honest and authentic. Even Mindy has so many sponsored posts on Insta.
So it feels a bit disingenuous but I guess that is all of influencer / insta / tik tok life.

Why do you insist on starting a new Mindy bashing thread every few months? It's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS how she lost weight. She doesn't owe you anything.

GLP-1 is not the only game in town.

The only reason she doesn’t have the GLP-1 face is because she’s brown, not white.

Shut up with "GLP-1 face". That's just sagging skin from rapid weight loss. She doesn't have it because she didn't lose weight rapidly. I think I first remember her starting to noticeably lose weight in 2021 after she had her Covid baby, and even then she was not at her heaviest, so it has taken her 5 years to lose probably 50-60 lbs.

This could be the case for many people generally but...not Mindy lol. Mindy isn't sick, she's working through her insecurities and trying to be an influencer thirst trap in het 40s now that she has money and influence and wants the final approval of being hot and sexually desirable, something she has never experienced. That is ABUNDANTLY clear if you know anything about her at all.

And that's different from all the white celebrities out there how? Why aren't there dozens of hateful threads on them?

You have to let that go. Do you really think that Jennifer Garner looks the way she does because of Neutrogena, or because of whatever crappy hair product she sells?

Do you really think Jen Aniston looks like that because of pvolve? These people have so much going on with them behind the scenes that we never know and we just get seduced into thinking of I use this face washer if I use the shampoo… It just doesn’t work like that and it’s not really celebrities fault - we are in a consumer culture and they’re not even necessarily lying that they like the product. But there’s so much more that goes into their skin and hair care routine or fitness or weight management routine that it’s silly for anyone to be persuaded by that.

She addressed this in her latest interview - she flat out said "I know it's sometimes no fun when your favorite actors lose weight after you've grown attached to them" <-- this is a YOU problem. You liked seeing celebrities that look like you, now you're sad that she's not. Get over it, lose some weight.

And that is threatening to you why?

Oh, I don't find it threatening in the slightest lol. I find it mildly pathetic because I like strong women and like her work generally, it's just a little sad to see someone who has worked hard, fought stereotypes in Hollywood and generally been extremely successful decide the next decade+ is to be dedicated to recouping the "hot 20s" she never had by embracing disordered eating and hawking laxatives and enemas (literally...anything including those things). It's like if Chtistine Lagarde decided her next chapter in life was to Lauren Sanchez herself and make it into Sports Illustrated while pulling cash from Only Fans subscriptions. It's trashy and off putting. It is NOT "threatening."

We equate weight loss and thinness with being hot in our society, but that’s not really Mindy‘s fault. I believe her when she said she had diabetes in her family and also being heavy is I imagine not fun on your joints and stuff as you age and enter perimenopause, which is an inflammatory state to begin with. Being overweight inflames your body so that’s not a great combination.

There are actually health benefits, so I don’t judge her for taking the medication.

Mindy was not heavy enough that it was a strain on her joints! She was regular sized woman.

That's not true. She has gone up and down over the years. I look like her, I have the same health risks as her (there are some higher risks that come with being a South Asian woman at any weight - heart disease, diabetes, etc.), I'm the same height as her, and at her heaviest, she was probably 200lbs. I know, because I've been there.

This is 100% why she gets so much backlash. It's like how people just can't handle it when their fat friend gets thin. You see it over and over again in the relationship forum here. Women complaining that their formerly fat friend has "changed" and it's ruined their friendship.

I appreciate that most of her sponsorships are in support of the south asian community (I would never buy Lion Pose, because it's far too expensive, but kudos to her for supporting south asian women, she's been a boon to the community).

She also had a whole pregnancy that she hid until months after the baby was born. Between careful angles and mixing in old pics, she’s obviously a pro at keeping secrets while still being chronically online.

And you shouldn’t take GLP1 while pregnant/trying, so there’s most likely a good chunk of time where she’s been off the drugs since she had 2 kids after losing a lot of weight.

I was saying that it doesn’t make sense to expect people to be extremely interested in one part/ time of your life (the time that you’re selling things very publicly) and not have any interest at other times (when you want them to give you privacy), not that it’s disingenuous to lie to sell products.

Really? So do you have no boundaries between work and life then? Or just expect Mindy not to?
