Is the “25 grad underemployed or no job at all? My ‘26 is seeing all the stories of ‘25 grads still looking and I am wondering if they are working but not in the field of their degree.

My son graduated in '25. Several friends are still looking and their only employment is substitute teaching and door dash.

Major? College? Did he have internships during college?

Many tentative job offers will be rescinded before the start date. Our quant firm has made offers for returning students but we are going to bring in only 1 of the 5 that we extended tentative offers to. That notice wont go out until a couple of weeks before the start date. Too much volatility in the market.

Lots of tech hiring still happening along the Metro Silver Line in NoVA and along 28. Blue Origin, Kuiper, Amazon, NG/Orbital Sciences, and others all are actively hiring.

(If hired at Amazon, then work hard, learn everything you can, get experience for your resume, and keep looking for a better job. Remember that any entry-level tech job is better than having no tech job.)

With a STEM degree and US citizenship (not green card or other visa), look at USAjobs.gov. Several parts if IC and DoD/DoW are actively hiring new grads with STEM backgrounds.

I also would work whatever network you have (church, sports, relatives, or other) to find something. Lots of government sector places are looking for people to hire as contractors to replace the (lower cost) civil service people who took the fork last year. Those jobs often do not get advertised but they do exist.

this thread is awful - depressing me to start the day - so many full pay kids under or unemployed. That wasn’t the agreement!

wonder if the kids all believed the offers were indeed “tentative”

check with your school, some provide tutition refund if you can't get a job within a year of graduation.

What agreement? And what does full pay have to do with it?

Thanks for posting this list of companies. My DD (class of 2026, BS Cybersecurity) just accepted an offer this week (her offer from October was rescinded due to budget cuts) and she had several companies actively hiring. Some of the companies are CACI, MITRE, Accenture, and Delviom

Good luck to all the students seeking employment!

Top schools are well worth full pay, no job shortage there.
Every 2025 from kid’s ivy and friends of theirs at similar level schools have jobs, besides the ones who went the med/law/phD route. Most of the 2026s have jobs or are finalizing now.
The students who are looking from 2025 went to schools outside the T30ish.

DP. That’s not been our experience at all. The kids we know who are employed or have recently received offers attended state schools. Many of those who graduated from Ivies are still searching.

My '25 Cornell kid has been searching for his first job for the past 18 months without much luck. My '26 Cornell kid has been searching for her first job for the past 12 months. She has three different internships in her freshman, sophomore, and junior year: However, she will graduate next month without having a job. FWIW, both are in stem field.
