And +1 his/her own comment. |
How do you know it's their own? I disagree with their attention-grabbing statement about Georgetown not being prestigious, but the endowment issue they bring up is relevant. |
That's nice to see that Georgetown is getting new buildings. However it's the original campus that needs some work and I see that this Public Policy building is in downtown. That does make sense for facilitating jobs though. It's kind of an interesting coincidence that the Michigan and Georgetown buildings share an architect. The Michigan buildings are all within easy walking distance of Michigan Union/downtown Ann Arbor. The new dorms are supposed to open this fall. |
Georgetown more prestigious than Michigan? For the Walsh school, ok. Not for anything else. |

This is unacceptable for such an overpriced school!
https://thehoya.com/features/oh-rats-georgetowns-rodent-problem-grows/ Besides international affairs, GTown doesn’t have nearly the same reputation as UMich especially among other countries/states. Heck, my son’s buddy (a high stats senior in the DMV area) only heard of the school when my son mentioned the name recently! |
Yeah, but DCUMers will never miss a chance to make up their kid’s situation in order to dump on the type of school they don’t like. |
I actually don’t mind that campus, but as an adult and if I were attending grad school, not for undergrad. |
Not a big fan of Georgetown (we're an ND family), but this post lacks credibility when they post an article from 2023 about rats (rats are always a problem in urban areas) and clearly lie about someone in DMV never hearing of the school. Someone either got rejected or has some other gripe about the school. |
+1. Michigan COA is also about $10k less per year than Georgetown, and $15k+ less than schools like USC and NYU. Not huge money but there is still a discount there. |
It’s the rat troll! 🐀🧌 |
Someone pointed out in a recent thread about seeing 🐀 in broad daylight when doing a campus visit. As for people in DMV who have never heard of Gtown, you need to get out of your bubble! |
| Georgetown has more prestige than Michigan. And who wants to spend 4 years in Ann Arbor. |
Over 100,000 kids annually. I'm very familiar with both campuses and the vibes are very different. Some people would love the strong academics & being close-to-DC (and all that comes with that) kind of environment. Some would love the strong academics in a classic college in the midwest (and all that comes with that).

You sound like someone who has never left the DMV. |
Why are you crowdsourcing opinions from randos on a website? This post is literally just asking for vibes. |
