Every college kid is doing it because you voted to legalize it. What did you think was going to happen?? |
Neither is alcohol, but alcohol is ubiquitous on every college campus. Your statement on “legality” for students under 21 is effectively meaningless. |

Talk to your kids: while they are in HS, before they leave for college, and during college when you check in or they come home for break.
Share articles on the long-term effects of pot on their own developing brains and what kinds of problems regular use can case for them that they will have to live with their whole lives. Suggest they abstain or only use moderately if they want to avoid it. On alcohol, say the same thing for binge drinking. Suggest they drink moderately or abstain if they don't like the effects. My oldest goes to college on a "wet campus" and says his school is very understanding for those that don't want to partake or are sober. Everything will be ok if you arm your DCs with real, scientific info and suggest they go slow or say no. |
Most of the parents on here seem to think pot isn’t dangerous which is such a provincial pre ting attitude. |
+1 |
| I’m high right now. |
I’m sorry, where did you go to college? We missed that. |
| I think alcohol usage is a much more prevalent at my kid's school - among the social kids who go out. |
Alcohol down and pot is up. If your kid says they aren’t doing pot they are probably not being truthful. All parents need to talk about the dangers of pot before it’s too late. https://www.campusdrugprevention.gov/news/college-students-are-drinking-less-alcohol-smoking-more-weed |
No. And he knows that under Federal law, marijuana is still illegal, meaning that use now might close future job opportunities. (Not arguing for the merits of various laws, merely noting their existence.) |
I did not. |
Pot stays in your system 90 days, tops.... So the answer is NO. "have you ever smoke pot?". NO never. LOL. |
