No. Nor are any of their close friends. Some kids do but it is not as common at their schools(two different ivies) as it is the friends at UNC, other state schools

I smoke every day in college and graduated summa. I then smoked regularly in law school and was magna. Everybody I knew smoked a lot of weed. You all sound like your grandmothers. Lighten up.

The reason we discount all the “evidence” is that we were bombarded with all this propaganda in the 80s and 90s too, but we were intelligent enough to see through it and realize that pot could be fun with fewer side-effects for most people than booze. I don’t advocate smoking as much as I did in college, or taking it at all, but the fact is that many people- including most of my friends at a top 10 college- smoked pot frequently at college with no long-term damage. We are now very successful members of society.

I didnt. Spouse didnt. No one we knew well did. Also Top 10. Kids don’t either. Pot has a huge amount of long term issues, moreso now than back in the 80s.

Pot usage is up. The football coach at Boulder complained about the smell in the stadium. It’s no longer hidden, it’s something kids do daily and in the open.

Kids at Boulder have been smoking copious amounts of weed for decades,

Not publicly and you’re kidding yourself if you don’t realize that pot usage is up to dangerous levels.

+1000

The trend will turn around soon. It has long term negative effects on the brain, word just not out yet to the ones who can turn the tide

No. Most don’t in our k-12 private and the top schools our kids attend.
Only certain areas and demographics use the stuff.

This isn’t Gen X smoking an occasional joint. As PP suggested some kids are smoking all day everyday to the point that dorms always smell like it. Would you be condoning drinking every day?

Parents too. Parents of toddlers and elementary kids come in reeking like never before. It all changed with covid and legalization. Kids cannot sit still, have been raised on screens while parents smoked, are ill prepared for school. It is a crisis just beginning to unfold, like the opiate crisis but this one affects kids the most

This is so sad and the parents should be arrested. They would certainly get social services and the police called if they drove their kids to school drunk.

My "regular" kid came home for Fall break and his clothes smelled like weed, so yes, we had a talk.

He didn't denied it and said everyone does it.... and said " I least I'm not smoking and popping pills like the " high stats kids".

He said Frat kids (on top frats) are heavy on alcohol, weed and snorting. Yikes!

I wonder about that. My kids haven't said anything and their grades are still solid. It does seem like things have changed. When I was at GMU back in the late 80s/ early 90s I don't think I came across any drug users, I'm sure there were some there but I guess I assume they probably dropped out so they weren't around very long.
