Hair It’s 10pm do you know where your children are? We were free, we felt free — the late 90s things changed and that freedom because fear. Kids were outside less, there seemed to be more awareness of crimes. |

Best:
no social media; no internet; no phones dance parties and dinner parties going out to the movies Worst: HIV/AIDS Reagan and the rise of the Republican bullshit attack on government |

Man...I graduated HS in 93, so I was a younger kid during much of the 80s, but it was a fun time for sure...
We spent our summer vacation in OCMD every year and got to know folks who came the same week as us...fun exchanging letters with them as we built up to our week at the beach. Walking the boardwalk, Thrasher's fries, the Purple Moose, The Brass Balls Saloon. I still can't believe my folks actually bought me a "Bearded Clam" t-shirt! Road my bike everywhere and thought I was cool because I saved up to buy an early Cannondale mountain bike - thought my college age cousin was the coolest and he had one. He even took me to the bike shop to make the purchase! The acid wash jeans - I had an acid wash jean jacket in 7th grade along with the matching jeans - that was a lot. Movies in the 80s - Back to the Future, Top Gun! We had a local theater that we could walk to - we'd stop at the local pharmacy and buy cheap snacks that we'd sneak in. LOL. Yeah. It was simpler then, but was it better? Maybe. |
