What was best about the 1980s?

FYI there's a pretty good Devo documentary out now; they were way more out there/political than I remember (in a good but super disconnected from reality kind of way)

1980s Celtics heyday
Real ripped jeans that you broke in
Terrible spiral perms once they loosened up
Emack & Bolio's ice cream

The Good.
People were more sociable and out in public more, more people on porches still, kids out roaming towns all daylight hours having fun, parks full, arcades, skating rinks, drag strips, drive ins with roller girls still existing, better music, less drugs, less violence, less urban blight, less societal problems, town squares still full and fun on weekends, unisex salons not common yet,

The Bad.
Worse hair, silly fashion trends like big hair and tight uber-tapered mom jeans shredded up, the beginning of the girlying up of men, smoke and smoking everywhere, chewing gum stuck to everything, often no air condition in many people's homes still, 10 channels on TV, many vehicles with no A/C still being used, too much polyester clothing still, disco, expensive groceries in early 80s still, smog, body odor still common in public.

Guess jeans, The Limited, Esprit and Benetton. If there’s ever an 80’s day during spirit week, my daughter is covered. I saved some of my clothes.

My grandpa was 90. He said he didn't think he'd live to see that happen.

It was one of those moments when history was moving in a good direction for little people.

Little people? They had been oppressed by Socialism for generations, but weren't less for it.

Not much they could have done, they were fully disarmed before the Socialists took over.

Oohh PacMan tables at old school Pizza Huts. Hot spots for hanging out for everyone under 50 in those days. Many had to put no-loitering signs in parking lots.
